After dropping that bomb I had thought that he would have freaked out. Instead his words send a wave of relief throughout my whole body.

I want to stay and explain everything to him, but I don't have the time and Colton seems to realize this.

Colton gives me a hug, "Go take care of business, I'll be here when you get back". He pulls back while keeping his hands on my arms. "Do what is right for your pack, I can handle whatever they dish out. But please promise me that you won't risk your title for me. Your people need you as their leader even if that means that I won't be a part of your life. Promise me that if being with me means that you will lose your pack that you will choose Oliver", He says with a sad smile.

The amount of strength that it must take him to say those words aloud brings a tear to my eye. He seems to understand the importance of my pack now. As much as want to shake my head, to scream that it wouldn't come to that, I knew deep down that it just might.

If I didn't become Alpha, there would be an upraise in the pack. Oliver would be the best choice for the position but since he is not of Alpha blood and he was already named Beta he would have to deal with those who would challenge him. If he would have been named the heir to begin with then he wouldn't have to deal with as many people thinking he wasn't the rightful leader. I don't have to deal with being challenge because I am of the Alpha bloodline. Yes, some may challenge me in the future, but none will do so when my father is still the leader.

As much as it pains me I know that if the choice comes down to Colton or my pack I will have to choose the pack. I must do what is right no matter how much it will hurt me. If it comes down to it I will have to reject Colton.

A tear falls as I nod and look Colton in the eyes, "I promise that I will do what is right. Let's hope that it doesn't come down to that."

I leave the room before I can run back to Colton and promise to never leave him.

Luke straightens up when he sees me walk out of my room. I nod at him to let him know that I appreciate all that he is doing. He gives me a smile and takes his place in the middle of the doorway.

I walk down to my dad's office and knock once before entering. I don't wait for him to answer me before I enter because he knew I was coming.

He looks up when I enter, "We should talk before we address the others."

I nod and take a seat on the other side of his desk. I feel my face relax to try to keep my emotions hidden. I don't want him to see the emotional struggle that I am currently having.

I take a seat across from him at his desk.

"I am going to try my very best to keep this punishment to a minimum, but I want you to be prepared for the worst."

The thought of leaving Colton breaks my heart. In this meeting I will have to try to make the elders see my side of things. I will try my hardest to pull rank over them and sway their votes to my side. It is going to be a long shot, but it is the only plan that I currently have.

This whole time my dad sits at his desk going over paperwork. He sets the stack of papers down and quietly stands up. "As hard as this is going to be for you, you will have to put the fact that he is your mate aside."

He walks to the door and I know that that is my queue to follow him. It is now time to find out the fate of my Colton.

We walk in silence to the conference room. Some of the warriors are standing outside the room to keep people from interrupting the meeting. The two warriors nod in respect to me and my father as they open the doors for us.

"Alpha Williams, Alpha Mia, I hear that we have a lot to discuss this morning." One of the elders says as soon as we walk into the room.

Wow. Is it really morning already? It was evening when this whole thing started so it makes sense that it does happen to be morning. It is crazy how time has passed yet I do not feel the least bit tired. I guess that will happen when you're about to find out your fate.

My father stands at the head of the table, "Let's not waste time, we have a lot to go over". He sits down and I follow his lead taking the empty seat next to him.

We go over the details of the events that took place the night before. I must tell the twelve elders that are in attendance how I had left the dance to get some fresh air. I explain that I was ambushed, how Colton tried to warn me, but it was too late. As much as I want to crawl under a rock and keep all this information to myself I know that that is just not possible. I explain every detail for the second time today. As much as I don't want to, I explain how it was Colton's father that was behind the attack and that he was the one that shot Oliver, the packs future Bata. I end with how Colton is currently being held in my room with Luke keeping guard.

"Wow, that is some story Miss Mia", an elder named Jane says.

Another elder clears his throat to get everyone's attention, "I think the choice here is very clear. We either let this boy stay and risk something like this happening again and possibly not being as lucky next time, or we banish him for good."

I feel myself tense up and dig my nails into the palms of my hands to keep from jumping up and running from the room. One of my worst fears is coming true.

The elders' breakout in conversation, all talking at once over one another. A few disagree stating that that punishment would be harsh while most others yell in agreement.

"What if next time the hunters attack this boy leads them right to our young? We can't just let him go free to tell others our secrets" Elder Thomas speaks up.

"We must keep him locked up to prevent that."

Jane seems to be the only one that realizes something that no one had previously thought of. "What about Jessica?" she whispers.

That whisper is enough for everyone in the room to hear. These people may be older but being wolves means that they haven't lost their hearing like most elderly.

"She is right. Jessica had to have known what her ex-husband was too. She married a man that wasn't her mate after all. "

They are correct on Jessica marrying a man that happened to be human and not her mate. The reason behind this was because Jessica never found her mate. While she was looking she met the human and fell for him. She never told him while she was truly traveling and instead made up a story to keep her secret. They married and eventually adopted Colton.

"If we lock them both up we will have to assign guards to them 24/7. I see a similar option, why don't we just kill them both. They are both considered traitor and should be rightfully punished. Alpha William, when your grandfather Alpha James was in charge he couldn't have given this decision a second thought. He would have done what was needed."

I slowly begin to see all the elders' nod in agreement. Even the members that I had thought was on my side began to change their minds.

They all look at one another before Thomas speaks up, "I believe we have all made out decision. We believe that Colton and Jessica need to be killed to prevent them from causing more damage to our packs.

I feel my heart stop.
