After a long night of tedious work on your costume, you finally finished, showing it to Nemuri. She had clapped her hands in approval, her face plastered with a goopy face mask but a smile still showing.
She was doing her weekly ritual: once a week, after all the work was done, she would pamper herself with new nail color, face masks, waxing, plucking, etc.
Sometime you watched because it was slightly fascinating, but you usually just stayed out of her way.
"I'm going to bed," you muttered, placing the notebook on a table by the stairs. "Can you send in my costume?"
"Sure!"
You climbed back up the stairwell to your room. It was a bit plain, with simple (favourite color) blankets covering a white mattress and pillow on your bed, a glass desk, and a wardrobe. Nemuri offered to get you other things if you wanted, but you politely declined, saying it would be a distraction if there was frilly things in your room and that you could just materialize them if needed.
You crawled into bed, using your quirk to flick the lights off, and you simply lay there, staring at the ceiling.
You couldn't remember what the voices of your parents sounded like. You tried to imagine it, but it was slipping away, and you were finding it difficult to recall them.
You squeezed your eyes shut and waved your finger under the sheets. Drowsiness came over you and you quickly fell asleep.
———
When you woke up in the morning, it was to the smell of breakfast. Well, you presumed it to be breakfast, but it really just had the scent of burnt food. It lingered in the air, making you crinkle your eyebrows together and wave your hand in front of your nose.
"(Name)? Can you come help me please?"
You sighed, walking to and down the stairs. Nemuri had a sheepish smile on her face, holding out a pan with burnt omelet, a small flame still lit on the formerly yellow food.
"I burnt it by accident... But I guess that's why I'm not married!" She laughed it off as you waved your finger, a small crackle of energy emitting from the mark on your finger. The fire died down and the omelet changed to a fluffy yellow.
"You need cooking lessons," you said softly. She rolled her blue eyes and thrust the pan towards you.
"Anyways, here's your breakfast! Eat up so you become strong and sexy!" She threw you a thumbs up and a wink.
"It's strong and healthy, y'know." You carefully took the pan from her and carried it to the kitchen, dumping the egg onto a white ceramic plate.
"Party-pooper," Nemuri huffed from behind you. You could hear her cracking another egg open and the sizzle of it cooking. She was trying to make sunny-side up eggs now, and you prayed she would do it right this time.
A few minutes later, when you were almost finished eating, you could hear her let out a cheer.
"I made...eggs!" she proclaimed.
You turned around to find her holding up another plate with a perfectly made egg, the yolk round and shiny.
"Congrats I guess," you murmured, placing your dish in the sink and walking off.
"You're not going to help with the dishes?!?"
"I helped with your burnt egg." You started to ascend up the stairs. "I'm going out later too," you added.
You got dressed in a pair of black shorts and a white tank top. You stuck your feet into sneakers and you left promptly. It was about ten o'clock, so you would probably just end up eating at the park for lunch. You brushed strands of hair away from your face as you turned left.
The path you were taking was one you had walked down numerous times before, but it wasn't that boring because there were different kinds of people around the neighbourhood too.
You looked down at your hands, holding them about a foot apart. You focused your energy into the center of the empty space, and a small, swirling energy ball appeared. Barely using any of your energy, you turned it into a small, clear crystal. It didn't take much power to do this, but if you were to constantly use your quirk, you would start to get a headache. Simple drawbacks like these annoyed you, because you weren't able to remove these with your quirk.
You were too busy staring at the crystal to notice that when you turned the corner, you ran into an ash-blond boy wearing a muscle shirt and shorts. He was wearing earbuds, but he looked quite pissed off when you crashed into him.
"Watch the fuck where you're going, dumb bitch," he growled. He looked to be your age, fifteen.
"Sorry," you said, staring into his crimson eyes.
"You fucking should be!" He grabbed you by the shirt, unaware that this was making the bottom rise up and your bare stomach could be seen. "How fucking annoying."
You gently placed your right hand on his. The markings on your middle finger glowed once again before he felt a scalding heat where your hand was touching. He dropped you like a hot stone, glaring at you.
"I hope I never fucking see your dumb ass again, bitch." He pushed past you, continuing his jog.
Rude, much?
You just turned the corner and continued your route, straightening out the top of your shirt from where he held you.
"He's just a dumb jerk." He also looked familiar, but you couldn't remember why. Ignoring it, you kept going.
About one hour later, you found yourself back at home. You came to pick up lunch, which Nemuri said she made for you. If it tasted bad, you could just fix it.
You unlocked the door, quickly taking the bento box that was wrapped up in a checkered kerchief. However, when you turned, you saw a tall, hulking man with bloodshot, wide eyes and a knife in hand.
"Looks like it was a good choice to follow you here, little girl. This is the home of Midnight, so she's sure to have loads of money!" He grinned, showing off yellow teeth, some crooked or missing.
He shuffled over to you, grabbing by the neck, second time today. He held the knife up to your clear skin and pushed it in.
"Now bring me money or I'll kill you. You don't seem to have a quirk, so it'll be a piece of fucking cheesecake." He smirked, thrusting you forward.
"I'm sorry, I'm not obliged to listen to your orders, dumbass," you said, your right hand raising up so it was in line with the intruder's body. You waved your hand, and a blanket full of food and an inflatable donut appeared on him. He looked quite confused at this, but it would be made clear in a moment.
"Bye." He disappeared with a shriek. He would be in for a nasty surprise; he had been teleported to the middle of the sea. It might not have been a very nice thing to do, but it was only his fault for deciding to become a criminal.
You calmly picked up the boxed lunch and you left, relocking the door and continuing on with your day.
