Drake's POV

—————————

"Ashley, it's not really my place to say or to give you an answer. I'm sorry." I hung my head, silently praying to the moon goddess that she'll understand or at least have mercy on me.

I heard her give a soft sigh before delivering a sharp, painful blow to the back of my head with a crow bar. With a flash of blinding light behind my eyes, I was out cold. Consumed by a pitfall of darkness, I came to quickly realize, our fragile Luna had decided that showing mercy wasn't her forte.

After what seemed like hours, I opened my eyes, feeling the dull, sickening ache pounding through my head. My surroundings came into focus; realizing that I was still in the same place I was when Ashley knocked me out. I rubbed my my head with a groan and pulled myself up into a sitting position. I glanced heavenward, to where the sky seemed awash with colours, like water colours on an artists canvass, subtle shades of yellow merging into a deep red, with a contrast of inky blue and black from the darkening clouds. Just the hint of an angry thunderstorm seemed like perfect weather for the alpha to show up I guess.

Standing up, I rolled the stiffness from my shoulders. My eyes then travelled along to Ashley's window. No lights were on and it was then where I heard the jubilant howls of the pack. I wondered what had got the dogs in such a happy and fruitful mood this evening.

Walking into the forest, I followed the sounds to where the pack members were. What I didn't expect was for Ashley, to be swimming in the Creek and playing with pups. The older wolves were on the other side of the embankment, mucking around with each other. So not wanting to disturb the peace, I stayed hidden and watched Ashley.

I couldn't help but admire her. She was the epitome of a Luna; with the way she looked after the pups, she had a soft gentleness in her eyes but I couldn't let that sway me. Ashley, knocked me out with a crow bar for Christ sake; she may look the archetype of a Luna but she is considerably dangerous than most others.

Ashley POV.

———————————————————————————————————————

After knocking out my so called friend, I walked back into the mansion-like home. Then, went back to my room, laying the crow bar down beside my bed. I gazed out through the window and watched the large dogs run and play around. But all too soon, one poor dog was surrounded by many, many pups. A soft smile curved my lips, watching the scene before me play out as the little puppies were trying to bite the older dogs tail.

I tore my eyes away from the window, absorbed in my thoughts. I couldn't help but wonder: why have such a large house or mansion when no one is living here? Well, maybe there were people living here and perhaps they had gone to work.

As my thoughts trailed off to work, my eyes widened realising that my father would most certainly be looking for me. No doubt planning to beat me or do other dreadful things to me, for not returning home. He would find me either way so I might as well try to head back 'home'.

And with that, I began to leave the mansion, walking into the forest and following the dirt track. I wasn't taking any notice of my surroundings like I should've been doing but I had one goal in mind and that was to leave this place.

For another hour or so I realised I was going around in circles. I witnessed the sky begin to change its colour. I then heard the steady flow of water to my left, followed by the sounds of playful barks and growls. I listened; the prominent sound filled my ears so I followed those sounds until they lead me to a small creek, where many of the dogs and pups where. I smiled softly at the sight. None of the large dogs seemed to mind my presence of walking along the creek. I took off my shoes and dipped my feet into the cool water. It was pleasant and relaxing; the clear, blue water, was flowing steadily and you could even see some fish swimming around the waters edge.

Of course, one of the puppies where too curious about the fish and thought it would be a great idea to jump into the creek. The puppies didn't even look a day over 4 weeks old; seeing it's struggles to keep a float, I rushed in as quick as I could and swam over to the distressed puppy, before lifting it up into the safety of my arms.

I was smiling down at the cute, adorable puppy, taking in his small form; his smaller then most of the other pups. His most likely the runt of the litter of pups that were born. A giggle made its way through my throat as the little pup, was attempting to eat the small fish in the creek, his cute, little paws hit the water creating small splashes, which had then attracted most of the pups to me. Their little tails waged and you could see in their eyes of various colours of what they were going to do.

The first brave soul took several, little steps back, before launching her little body forward, she still has that unsteadiness as she runs. The little puppy gets to the edge stops completely, but the momentum that she had build up did stop, and the help of the evil sister shoving her into the water. The pups cries of distress where heard treading through the water I made my way to her and pick her up , her gorgeous fur was now soaked, her fur was dark, chocolate brown, it suited her well especially with almost black eyes.

I smile as both pups that are in my arms, decide to give me kisses by lick my cheeks and chin. I giggle but all to soon it end as the playful yips, and yaps were heard coming towards. I look up in time to see all of the pups running and jumping into the water and some landing on me from their powerful, Small legs.  After several minutes of carrying the little puppies to the shallow end of the creek, which is where all the much larger pups are chilling out, I let go of the pups to spot where they can touch the ground but with the exception of the little runt that is currently sitting in my lap. I sigh with content as I flick some water at one of the many playful pups that try to eat the water.

Then all to soon the fun and games were over, as a loud deep growl was heard, oddly enough it sent shivers up my spine...that's odd
