Accused of Treason in Five Languages

I figured it would've been obvious by now that I didn't have a normal family life. We all pretended to be very Step-ford and nuclear but the truth was, we still didn't know how to act with each other.

My parents wanted everything to be fine and normal, so that's the way they acted. They live off the motto if you put positive energy out into the universe, it'll happen.

Colton was being sweet and supportive the first day of school, but after that a switch flipped in him and he turned on me. I didn't know why nor did I feel it was my place to ask because he should be mad at me. It was my fault that my family had to uproot their lives here.

However, it was still a surprise when Cole ambushed me as I was on my way out to see Paul.

Today was practically my only day off as I had been picking up all of Bella's shifts this past week; working doubles, coming in earlier and staying later.  I didn't mind as much because even though I didn't know specifics, I knew Bella wasn't in a good place right now.

Sam found her unconscious in the forest last Friday night. She was mumbling incoherently when she woke up and it was true that her boyfriend's family had left, so quickly that there was hardly a trace of them, no one really knew what happened to her though-she's still barely speaking.

Mrs. Newton called me the next morning, asking if I could come in to work. Charlie, Bella's dad, called them and said that Bella had been sleeping all day and still not talking-naturally Mrs. Newton asked if would be available to take all of Bella's shifts this next week, just in case she couldn't.

And while I was more than willing to help out, Paul kept complaining that he didn't get to see me anymore. Even though only a week had passed, I missed him too. Which is why both of us were making a sacrifice to see each other by waking up at early, ungodly hours on a Saturday, just so we could spend the whole day together. And while it could be totally unrelated, ever since Bella's ex's family- the Cullens-left, Paul has been so much happier practically lighter even.

Colton blocked the hallway staring at me, "I thought you had work?"

"I don't," I nodded, looking up from my phone, "It's my only day off and I'm going out."

"Do you need a ride?" He asked and I knew he wasn't asking out of the kindness of his heart but more so to be nosey.

"No thank you, Cole," I spoke, bumping past him as I made my way to the front door. While I didn't blame him for being mad at me, I hated the fact that he was so quick to judge Paul and the others.

Colton practically sang the words as he rushed passed me by the door, "Mom! Dad! Luna's going out with a guy."

Immediately my parents get up from their spot on the couch, the floorboards creaking as they walked to us in the front hall.

"What are you? five?" I snapped at him, smacking his arm just out of our parents eyeshot.

"What's going on?" Our dad asked, his tone serious and gaze harsh.

"I'm just going out with a friend," I started slowly, yet before I could continue, Cole interrupted me.

"A friend? More like boyfriend. His name is Paul and he's in this weird cult with these two other guys and their girlfriends. They all have tattoos and everything."

I shot a glare at my brother and turned to my parents, "Okay, the cult thing is just a nasty rumor going around about them. If someone," I looked to Cole, "wasn't so quick to judge he might actually see that."
