It's Settled
It was the next day, or rather a few hours later, when Paul, Jacob, Sam, and I met Edward, Bella, Alice and Jasper in the clearing.
Rather than a greeting, Edward's first words were, "I've not quite figured out all the details yet."
The random outburst left me puzzled, that was until Jacob rolled his eyes from next to me. Jacob evidently greeted Edward with some intense thoughts.
"What's so complicated about it?" My cousin snapped quickly.
"I have to consider every possibility," Edward replied with a quick glance towards me, "what if someone gets by you?"
"You really think I wouldn't protect her with the same amount I'd protect my cousin?" Jacob snarkily replied as he gestured towards me.
"Jacob," Sam lowly warned, knowing how Jacob's emotions run rampage at the thought of Bella.
"Excuse me?" I questioned as Paul wrapped a loose arm around me, but did not give a response. He was thinking over Jacob's planning as well.
Jacob continued on, "leave her on the reservation with Luna. We're making Collin and Brady stay behind anyway. She'll be safe there."
Bella's scowled, "Are you talking about me?"
"I just want to know what he plans to do with you during the fight."
Her eyes narrowed, "Do with me?"
Edward hovered besides her, "You can't stay in Forks, Bella. They'll know where to look for you here." He then turned towards us, "and what are you planning for Luna? What if someone slips by you?"
I tensed at the thought. Why didn't I considered earlier where I would have to hide? I've been so worried about the pack not getting hurt, I never considered where I would be during the fight.
Then Edward's harrowing statement resonated with me, what if someone does get by the pack?
Paul groaned with annoyance and pulled me flush against his side. "Seriously?" He shot Edward a look as my heart beat took off with my body's flight or fight response.
"Sorry, Luna," Edward apologized, "I didn't mean to make you panic."
"It's okay, I always do," I mumbled bitterly as I sunk into Paul's hug. I can never seem to hide or restrain my emotions amongst this group.
Ironically, it was just at this moment where all my fear dissipated to be replaced by a longing calmness. While Jasper's ability was otherwise annoying, I was grateful for it right now.
"Thanks," I softly mumbled to the vampire and he tipped his head in response.
"Well what about them staying in La Push?" Jacob questioned once more.
"They can't," Sam argued, "Luna's been all over the res and Forks, the same goes for Bella. There's multiple trails of their scents that the newborns can intercept."
I could hear Paul sigh loudly besides me, he was getting frustrated as well.
"I agree," Edward looked to Paul.
I looked back to him confused. He noticed the attention on him and continued on, "I was just thinking about getting you out of Washington all together. I know you want to go to New York."
"No," I frowned, "no way. I'm not going to go hide when all of you guys are risking your life for us. That's not fair."
"Well you can't come and fight with us," Jacob replied sassily.
