Of course my girl would sass a leech

"Luna, we need to leave now!" Bella screeched, grabbing hold of my wrist and dragging me behind her as we ran in the forest.

I wanted to collapse and take a long deserved 13 hour nap. The adrenaline rush I just experienced left me with no hint of energy after.

"Bella," I groaned once we got back to the car and practically melted into the car seat, "It's fine, we're okay."

"Did you see those wolves!?" She yelled, hitting the gas as the car screeched forward.

I looked to her flabbergasted, "Did you see the red-eyed vampire?!  Was he there or a figment of my imagination?"

"God," Bella mumbled as she bit her lip, "Laurent knows about you now."

"Who cares, he's dead."

Bella looked to me quickly as her grip on the wheel tightened, "What are you talking about?"

"The wolves!" I spoke and quickly realized she didn't know anything about then, "I mean... I saw them jump at Laurent."

"Those wolves are probably dead." She murmured worriedly.

My heart constricted tightly. What does that mean? Paul said he could attack any vampire, that they matched, even exceeded, in everything; speed, strength, etc.

I wanted to tell her to turn the car around, to go back to see if Paul was okay, but there was a silver lining of hope in me that knew he would be alive.

Bella made it back to her house, in half the time it took for us to get to the meadow. "We need to tell my dad," She spoke turning off the car.

"What?" I looked to her and instantly scrambled out of the car when I saw her about to storm into the house. "Why?"

"Those wolves were so close to the town line. The whole town has been talking about bear attacks or sighting these past few months and it's not bears- it's wolves!"

"Bella!" I once again got in her path. Her and I may be off to a start of a good friendship but there was no way in hell I was letting her betray my boys. "There was a vampire! A friggen vampire! And you're more worried about a pack of wolves spurring on town gossip? Imagine what your dad would do? Send out a hunting party to track these wolves when there's vampires lurking in the woods?!"

She finally let out a breath and I think my words may have gotten through to her.

"You're right," She nodded, "Their guns won't be much help."

There was a tense moment that passed over us and I think the shock finally wore off. My shoulders sagged and I took a breath.

I almost died.

However, the shock finally hit Bella, "Jesus Luna, I'm so sorry!" Her fists clenched into balls, "I didn't think- I put you in danger and I-"

I shook my head, "It was my decision to go out there too," I responded, taking deep breaths to keep myself from hyperventilating.

"Thank you," She suddenly blurted out, "For helping with my lie with Laurent"

A small smile lit up my face, "No problem, your bluff was pretty good."

My phone suddenly buzzed in my pocket. Paul texted me.

I'll be at Bella's in one minute. Stay in front of the house until I get there.
