Laurent?!
The next morning, I found myself once again standing outside the Swan house. Bella texted late last night and asked if I could go somewhere with her while we talked about the dark secret lying in Forks.
I of course, blindly agreed, but then felt slightly guilty at the fact that I was hiding this from Paul. I know he would never attempt to control me and make me stop talking to Bella, but he somehow manages to talk reason and common sense into me, thwarting a heavy majority of all my plans.
So, I was quite grateful that Quill shifted when he did, providing Paul a great distraction from me.
"Hey," Bella greeted me as she left her house, "I'll drive."
I gave a nod of simple agreement, since I had no idea where i'd be driving and for the fact that I left my car at home, just in case anyone in the pack passed by there- I needed to keep up pretenses. "So where are we headed?"
"Edwa-" Her knuckles clenched the wheel, making her pale skin turn practically white. "There was this place we went too, our place. It was a meadow in the middle of the woods and was beautiful." She hesitated for a moment but pushed on, "I was hoping by going there I would get some type of closure... does that make me crazy?"
I let out a laugh, "Not at all Bella. You're trying to find some sense of peace to move on. Revisiting an old place doesn't make that weird at all."
She nodded, but I wasn't sure if I reassured her at all. "How'd you meet him?" I prompted, trying to find a neutral ground to make her feel comfortable talking about him.
A small smile played on her face, "last year. Biology class."
"You met a vampire in biology, how ironic." I joked earning small laugh from her.
"He wasn't comfortable around me at first though. Throughout the whole class I thought I smelled awful. He had his hand over his mouth and was always facing away from me. Turns out that I am-" her voice wavered, "-was his blood singer."
"Blood singer?" I pressed, intrigued.
"My blood was so potent to him, it essentially sang to him, drew him in. They think there is a fated kill for every vampire."
"Wouldn't that be dangerous?" I asked, my concern growing exponentially, "With you being around him constantly."
She nodded, "It enticed him more so than the others but he fought it everyday-he said he liked to think that it meant we were fated to be together, soul mates. After the first day in biology he disappeared for practically a week and when he came back he suddenly started talking to me, acknowledging the fact that I existed.
"But he went back and forth a lot. He kept saying that we shouldn't have been friends but he would continue to talk to me. He was trying to keep me safe but eventually gave in. We talked constantly after that and he saved my life three times."
Shocked and concerned, I pressed forward, "Three times?"
"A kid from my school lost control of his car when it slid on the ice in the school parking lot. It would've crushed me if he didn't stop the car."
"Stop the car? How?"
At this point, Bella had parked the truck along a small dirt road. I was too enticed her story to pay attention to my surroundings so I simply followed her into the woods.
"Him and his family-well any vampires really, they have enhanced senses and abilities: super strength, hearing, smelling, seeing-"
Just like my wolves.
