I woke the next morning with pillow feathers in my hair and bruises of his fingerprints on my sides and in the dips of my hips. Neither of us had slept much the previous night, waking throughout the night to make love again and again. It was as if our bodies needed one another to survive, and we were making up for lost time. Jeremiah was already awake and he was getting dressed. I couldn't suppress my smile when he noticed me and he smiled right back. I stepped out of bed, not realizing that my legs would be so burdened by our activities the night before. I wobbled for a second and he chuckled as he fastened his belt and walked over to me. He placed his hands on my hips to steady me and I winced lightly as his heavy hands pressed into my bruises. He took notice of this and then he fell to his knees in front of my naked body. He examined his handprints in my skin before he looked back up at me. "I hurt you." He confirmed but I shook my head. "I liked it." I responded quickly, and he looked surprised. He then grabbed my right leg and began pressing kisses into my inner thigh. I gasped, my body coming to life despite it's recent overuse. "What are you doing?" I asked him breathlessly. "Rewarding you..." He smoothed out before he brought my body closer to him. He then placed my leg on his shoulder before he dipped his head under my body and began kissing my center. I let out a groan, my body being overly sensitive from over stimulation and yet the pain made it more pleasurable. I gripped his hair in my hands as he went to work on my body, licking and lapping at my folds. I didn't last very long and in a minute I was leaning into him and screaming his name as my orgasm ripped through me. I didn't quite have the sense to say his full name however so all that came out was a strangled "J." He pulled away from under me with a satisfied smirk and wiped his face. I let out an exhausted breath. "If your goal was to help me stand, you failed. Can you hand me some clothes?" I asked him as he stood. "J..." He said, testing out the nickname I had accidentally given him during my climax. "I like that." He decided before he handed me fresh clothes. I looked at the torn satin dress on the floor littered among his ruined shirt and it's buttons which were scattered throughout the room. I blushed as I threw on a white tee shirt and jeans that he had given me. I didn't ask if they were Ecco's clothes, as I was sure I wouldn't be happy with the answer. "I wonder if Ecco has killed Barbra by now?" I asked him. He flipped open his phone, searching for any new messages and when he didn't find any he flipped it closed again. "She has never failed me before... Barbra is a hard catch, but I'm sure Ecco will find a way." He said and I had a feeling it was more to reassure himself than me. I came up to him and placed my hands on his shoulders. "I'm sure everything will be fine." I assured him and then I moved to cup his face in my hands. "I love you..." I said smiling into the words, believing that those three words could never be said enough when applying them to the man in front of me. He visibly relaxed into my touch, his artificially green eyes finding mine. "And I love you." He responded, wrapping his hands around my waist and bringing me closer to him. We stayed like that for a little while, just savoring the feeling of being in one other's arms before duty seemed to pull him away. "Let's eat, I'll call Ecco if I don't hear from her after noon." He informed me and I followed him to the dining room. As Ecco wasn't here, Jeremiah prepared a late breakfast for us complete with eggs and sausage. As we ate, I could tell he was worried as Ecco always updated him on her status. Barbra's survival would be dangerous for all parties involved, but I would be lying if I said that I would mind if Barbra had somehow taken out Ecco.  I watched as his brows furrowed in worry, his beautiful features contorted and yet it complimented him. "You are very handsome." I told him and the compliment broke him out of his thoughts and he gave me a small smile. "Thank you dear, and you are very beautiful." He responded a little too quickly. I tried to derive my husband's attention from his worry, giving him compliments and professing my love to him again and again. But he was still troubled, and after we finished eating, Jeremiah went to his large study room and began phoning Ecco. I followed him, both anticipating and dreading for her to answer. "Ecco? Where are you right now?.... And Barbra?... She'll be where?..." He bombarded her with questions which she seemed to be answering and he quickly found a pen and scribbled down the location she gave him. "Alright. I'll see you then." He finished before hanging up the phone. I looked at him expectantly. "Well?" I prompted when he took too long to explain. "Barbra caught word that Ecco was after her, probably the result of Penguin, no doubt... She's been in hiding ever since, hence Ecco's delay. But Ecco figured out where she is going to be tonight, and she needs my help to kill her." He revealed and I frowned. "She hasn't needed your help before?" I countered and he gave me a knowing smile before he came up to me and placed a kiss on my forehead. "Ecco only asks for help when she really needs it... Barbra is tough, she won't go down easy. But with Ecco and I working together, Barbra doesn't stand a chance." He assured me but I was anything but assured. "Please don't go... As you said, Barbra is tough, and she could hurt you or even kill you! I can't loose you..." I pleaded with him and he grabbed both sides of my face firmly enough to make me feel secure and comforted. "Lilly... I have to do this... Barbra tried to kill you, and me. She knows my connection to you and she will never stop coming after you... I won't risk your life for mine." He said seriously, his eyes boring into my own. I knew he wasn't going to stand down, but neither was I. "Then let me come with you?" I bargained and he immediately shook his head. "Absolutely not... And I know you Lilly, you're not going to stay here despite if I ask you to... So I'll have a friend come over to ensure your safety." He told me and I scoffed. My mind returned to when he first revealed Ecco to me and her job of "watching over me." I rolled my eyes. "So I need another babysitter now? Isn't one enough?" I exasperated. "Not with you it's not." He chuckled as if this were a humorous moment. I glared at him as he snapped his phone open again, never breaking eye contact with me. "I need your help, how soon can you be over?... Perfect." He said before he hung up again. I had no idea who was on the other line but I was furious anyways. I marched straight up to my husband and I was about to give him a piece of my mind when he suddenly leaned in and kissed me. Oh how his kiss would distract me and make me forget all that I was angry about. I ended up wrapping my arms around his neck as his hands found my waist. After a good minute he broke from my lips, giving me one last little kiss before he finally pulled away. I stared at him dazed for a second before giving him a pouty face. "No fair." I blushed and he smiled and placed another kiss on my nose. Within an hour there was a knock at one of the many doors of the hideout. It was a special sequence of knocks that I'm assuming was some sort of password. "Come in." Jeremiah called out and then a woman walked in. She had fiery red hair and she was clad in a green crop top and dark green denim jeans. Maybe they had some sort of ginger alliance? "Lilly, this is Ivy... She's an ally. I give her protection and in return she gives me her loyalty. She will be staying with you tonight." He informed me as Ivy smiled at me. "I told you that I didn't need a babysitter." I spat at Jeremiah and he chuckled as he wrapped his arm around my waist and brought me closer to him. "And I told you that it wasn't up for debate." He reminded me and I gently pulled away from him. "I'll be back before you know it." He assured me but I turned away, not wanting him to put himself in danger for my sake. I turned back and looked at him as he began to walk away. "J, wait!" I called after him and he stopped and turned towards me as I ran to him. He embraced me and I leaned up and kissed him. "Stay safe." I whispered to him. "I promise..." He replied before he pulled away and left to help Ecco.
