Chapter 26: Now or Never

Mira's POV

Kanina pa ako hindi mapakali at pa-lakad lakad sa sala. I can really sense that there is something wrong going on.

"Nasaan na ba siya? Matagal pa ba siya?" naiinip kong tanong.

"Mira, just calm down." Tisha said.

"I can never calm down when it's my family we're talking about." I said

"I can't believe you're still that family-oriented even after what they did to you."

"I owe them my life."

Napa-buntong hininga na lang ako sa pabagsak na umupo sa sofa. Nasaan na ba si Ken?! I waited for a day para pumunta siya dito. I certainly can't call him 'cause they can easily track me. Kailangan pang tawagan ni Xander si Gabby sa Pilipinas then relay the message to Ken in Osaka para hindi maka-halata. Where the hell is he now?!

Kinakabahan na talaga ako. If I have no choice left, then I really need to go back, even though I don't want to. I fell like crying of just the thought of going back. It fells like I am walking myself to hell. And before I know it, I am really crying!

"Mira, are you okay?!" nag-aalalang tanong sa'kin ni Tisha as she placed her hand on my shoulder.

Kinapa ko yung pisngi ko at dun ko talaga nalamang umiiyak ako.

"Tisha, can you hand us some water, please?" narinig kong sabi ni Xander

"Yeah, sure." Tisha looked at me with an assuring smile than went to the kitchen.

Kinuha niya yung retro chair sa gilid, pinuwesto niya sa harap ko at umupo. Then, he looked at me, straight in the eye. Just by looking at his eyes, napa-iyak na naman ako.

"Xander, I'm scared."

He held my hands, "You know you don't have to do this."

"But that's my family. I mean, I know what they did but my conscience would eat me up."

Just then, the unit's doorbell rang. Xander immediately stood up, "I'll get it."

As Xander opened the door, Tisha went to me to give me the glass of water. It was Ken who were are the door. Uminom muna ako ng tubig at pinakalma ang sarili ko. Ken wouldn't want me to see in a broken state again.

After composing myself, I called him, "Ken, please clear everything."

Pumunta siya sa tabi ko at sabay kaming umupo. Isinandal niya ang ulo niya sa sofa at pumikit, "Damn, that was a hell of a flight."

I sighed, "You should rest."

"We cut ties with the Vegas, remember?" he said, still his eyes closed.

"Since when?"

"Since you got off the country."

"And they cut ties with our business partners in the same time as well?"

"Well, the day after. Rumors also has it that even the longest and veteran employees on each field were fired one by one."

"Why would Dad do that?"

Binuksan niya ang mata niya at seryosong tumingin sa'kin, "The question is, ang Dad mo nga ba ang gumawa non?"

"Exactly! Alam ko, parang may mali sa nangyayari. Dad invested his whole life to make that company prosper tapos ganun ganun na lang?"
