*THE NIGHT SHE WOKE UP

Mira's POV

The moment my sight was no longer blurry and my hearing is no longer distorted, I looked around the room and saw several people.

"Mira..." I heard a breathless exclaim of a woman, sitting in a wheelchair, just beside me.

Hindi niya halos mapigilan ang pag-hikbi niya, "I'm so glad you're finally awake..."

I was just about to answer her, but my voice came out as a groan instead. I could not speak.

Seeing my struggle, the woman beside me stopped me from speaking, "Wag mo munang pilitin ang sarili mo. Give yourself some time."

I slowly nodded at what she said. I just watched the nurses around me did their thing as I remained awake. Doctors also went into the room and did some physical examination on me, most especially my ability to response to them.

After some time, they raised half of the cot bed, so I was able to sit without trying physically to do it. Also, after the examination they did to me, I was able to collect my voice and strength to speak.

A doctor advanced to me and started asking questions while the woman in the wheelchair and the man, whose been silently watching me, behind the woman was watching me.

"Can you remember the last thing happened before you became unconscious?" the doctor asked.

I looked at the people inside the room and tried looking for answers into my head.

But I found nothing.

"N-No..." I hesitantly answered.

The doctor nodded as he started writing something while the woman beside me gasped.

"How about these people, can you remember who they are?" iminuwestra niya yung dalawang tao na nasa tabi ko.

What?

"N-No..."

"D-Doc, what's the meaning of this?" the woman beside me asked, shaking.

"We need to further assess the situation, ma'am." the doctor answered.

I suddenly became frustrated that I tried harder to remember even just a piece of memory but that only resulted to an undescribable pain on my head, "Aw!" I held my head for support.

"Don't force yourself to remember."

Bakit wala akong maalala? Sino ako—Sino ba kayo? Bakit ako nandito?" I started to become hysterical.

"Mira," the woman beside me calmed me down by caressing my arm near to her, "Don't be afraid. We're here..."

I felt so weak and defenseless. Adding to my fear are the unfamiliar faces looking at me.
