Chapter Eighteen | Y'all Hear Sum
Never once have I cried in front of people. To them, I'm always calm, collected, stoic. I held my head high and smiled in the face of everyone. It's the greatest thing about me, my ability to hide my true emotions. My emotional warmth, isn't a flaw to me but it could be a strength to others, so that's why I try my best to keep a straight face around others. But as Declan and I sat in this square cell behind bars I was about to explode with every emotion in my body.
"Is this gonna be on my permanent record?" I asked the office who sat outside the cell at a desk.
He was much older than Mr Victor and honestly more intimidating. He looked up from the newspaper he was reading and shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know kid. Probably."
I opened my mouth but the only thing that came out was a croaking sound. I held onto myself to keep myself from letting out a scream.
Declan sat a few inches away from me. His legs parted as he looked at the floor with his hands intertwined. He hasn't said a word since we've been here and it's scary to me how he can be so calm at a moment like this.
His face was scuffed up, but it wasn't as bad as Micah. Who by the way, should be in here with us, both him and Taj, but the two are no where to be found. I'm assuming the two were put in a different cell because of the altercation, but it'd be comforting to know they were experiencing the same thing we were or possibly worse.
"Declan?" I finally spoke, hoping he would turn to face me but he didn't.
"Y'all hear sum?" Declan looks in every direction but mine, purposely letting me know he's ignoring me.
He's so fucking childish. Even in times like this he still manages to act like a big kid.
"So you just gonna ignore me forever?"
He didn't respond.
I dragged out a sigh, bringing my knees to my chest I rested my head on my knees. "I'm a big fuck up, I know," I started, my voice cracking a little. "I know I'm the reason we're even in this mess. I should've just ignored Micah that one day, but I needed a distraction, a distraction from you."
