THE ENCHANTED FOREST: PRESENT DAY

As one of Lancelot's men stitched up Buffy's shoulder and treated the wounds on her forehead, Emma was pacing back and forth in front of the tent not wanting to let her baby sister out of her sight. Especially while they were surrounded by strangers, plus she had a feeling her sister probably had a short temper, given the way she had been very happy to threaten Mulan and Aurora's lives.

Her entire life she had been imagining the person that Buffy would grow into. If she would be smart, funny, what career she would follow. She had come up with a million theories, she had imagined Buffy as a guidance counselor or a doctor living in a big city going out with her friends every night. Being a typical 26-year-old girl.
Yet from the look of the force of nature her sister had become...her theories had been far from reality. That girl inside wasn't an innocent little baby anymore, she was a grown woman who had been through hell and back.

"How is she?" Mary Margaret whispers as she makes her way over to Emma who shrugs glancing back over at the tent only to wince as the sound of Buffy's voice echoes through the air.

"You son of bitch! This is not try and pin the tail on the Buffy!"

The mere sound of Buffy in pain sent an overwhelming amount of panic and worry through Mary Margaret. Quickly moving to rush into the room to check on her daughter, the mother of two is halted as suddenly Emma grabs her arm, yanking her back away from the tent "Not now."
Mary Margaret couldn't help but scoff as she stares at her elder daughter, Buffy was in pain she couldn't just stand here. She wouldn't, not after everything. They had finally found her, she didn't want to risk losing her again "It's Elizabeth, I need to. Emma...she's in pain I..."

"She doesn't know us." Emma snaps causing Mary Margaret's eyes to widen filling with hurt. The blonde sighs, she didn't want to hurt her mother but she didn't have a choice, Mary Margaret had a habit of pushing things too far. Buffy wasn't ready for this, hell she wasn't either. They had no idea what kind of life Buffy had left behind, hell they had no idea if she knew she was adopted.

She was a flight risk.

"Look...we don't what her life is like." Emma explains calmly trying to make her mother understand "If she has family looking for her, we don't even know what happened to her in that prison. But she's hurt and injured. If you go in there acting like her mother, you're gonna push her away. Let's find a way home and then we can explain all this to her."

There was a long beat of silence between the mother and daughter as they seemingly had a stare off over the wellbeing of the youngest member of their family.
However, the sound of Buffy storming out of the tent draws their attention "Seriously, shaky hands." She huffs gesturing to her newly bandages up shoulder before clicking her neck, shaking away the tightness in her muscles.
"Feeling better?" Mary Margaret asks hopefully as she turns to her daughter before moving to pull off her cardigan, given Buffy was currently in a blood-soaked white crop top and prison trousers.
"I'm good." She assures the elder woman, which while yes she was good, she also did not want to wear that cardigan, not her style. Rolling her shoulders the blonde yanks her bag over her good shoulder before twirling the scythe in her hands "So...there any food here?"

"This way." Lancelot announces as he strolls over to the three women drawing them over to a large table where a feast was laid out for them. As they all take their seats Lancelot glances over at Buffy "Mulan mentioned that weapon of yours." He tells her gesturing to the red scythe that was pretty much glued to her side like an extra limb "It's quite remarkable."
"Yeah, she's a beauty." Buffy mumbles skeptically, she didn't know what it was, but there was something about this guy that just seemed off to her. Since the second she had arrived he had kept his eyes glued to her more so than Emma or Mary Margaret. Watching her like a potential problem to be studied and assessed.
Plastering a clueless smile on her face she glances down to the meat on the plate in front of her "So what's this? Queller Demon?"
When all three occupants turn to stare at her with wide eyes of confusion the blonde merely shrugs "Guess not a thing here. Good to know." She mumbles before biting into her food.

It was good to know, the quicker she figured out the differences between her world and this one, the sooner she would be able to come up with a plan to get the hell back. If fairytales were real here...then magic had to be too.
Magic brought her here and magic was going to send her home, she just had to stick around people that knew this land for now.

Lancelot, who was still examining the young woman closely merely lets out a small chuckle, clearly amused by her words "I may not know what a Queller demon is, but this is Chimera." He explains as Buffy begins loading up her plate full of food "An acquired taste, but all our hunting party could bring back. One part Lion, one part serpent, one part goat."
"Like turducken?" Emma questions as she eyes the meat skeptically before scoffing in disbelief as she spots her sister happily digging into the food "How can you eat that?"
Buffy merely shrugs as she bites into the meat, to be honest, after 6 months of crappy prison sludge this was heaven "It's no Cheetos but it's not like I'm eating a puppy. That's where I draw the line."

Mary Margaret couldn't help but smile slightly, her youngest daughter definitely had a sense of humor, though deep down she could see it was nothing more than a shield. All her jokes and sarcasm, it was nothing more than a way to protect herself, her own personal defense mechanism.
Sighing the ex-bandit of the Enchanted forest turns to face the head of the table, her eyes filling with confusion as she meets Lancelot's gaze "I don't understand. We were told this land didn't exist anymore. How did you all escape a curse?"
