THE ENCHANTED FOREST: PRESENT DAY

"This will do." Mulan announces as she brings the group of women to a halt in the center of a large clearing surrounded by trees and wildlife "We'll make camp here for the night. We just need to find water, collect some firewood."

Buffy nods as she places her scythe in her holster before glancing around the clearing. She didn't like this, it was too open, they were easy targets here "Might be a good idea to get up high." She suggests her eyes quickly landing on the tall trees surrounding them, she could imagine that being up there would give her a full lay of the land "Check exactly how safe this place is."

Mulan merely quirks an eyebrow at the blonde, she was already so small she couldn't imagine someone her stature being able to climb a tree of that height "How do you suggest we do that?"
"I'm on it." The young Slayer mumbles as she tosses her bag on the ground along with her jacket, stretching her arms over her head the blonde inhales tightly before leaping up, grabbing onto the lowest branch with her hands. Swinging her body around the branch in a perfect circle, she lands gracefully on the branch with her feet.

Without waiting for any of them to say a thing, the three other women watch from the ground as Buffy easily begins ascending up the tree, disappearing from view.
Mulan couldn't help but let out an impressed breath as she watches the woman disappear up the tree "Impressive." She breathes, before turning to the other two women "I will retrieve the water."

Emma sighs as she glances over to where her sister was now perched in the tree like a bird before turning to her mother "Guess we're on fire duty."

THE DEMONIC WORLD: MANITOBA, CANADA
THREE AND A HALF YEARS AGO

Buffy couldn't help but laugh softly as she watches Oz's young son Kendel run around the garden with his husky. The puppy trying to avoid the toddler from riding him like a horse.
Taking a sip of her glass of wine the platinum blonde Slayer finally glances over at the werewolf sitting beside her. She had to admit, she was a little envious of this little corner of the world he had made for his family, it was perfect. Beautiful and away from all stress, which for a family of werewolves was definitely a key selling point.

"I still can't believe you have a kid." She breaths as she watches her old friend, it was hard to think that just a few years ago he had been struggling with his powers, yet now he was the king of control and had his own little family.
His own pack.
"You and me both." He whispers smiling softly towards his son before finally his eyes land on Buffy, despite how well she hid it, he could see the devastation she was constantly feeling. It had almost killed him when he heard what happened, he couldn't even begin to imagine what it had been like for her. She had been there, witnessed it all first hand, and hadn't been allowed a single breath to grief. She had thrown herself into the mission, she had shut herself off to the human connection.
That was obvious enough behind the smile and facade.

"Buff..." He starts hesitantly "Look, I know you don't wanna talk about it but..."

"I'm here about Sarah." She interrupts throwing him a small pointed glare, he was right she didn't want to talk. Not about Dawn, not about Willow, Giles, Xander, or the other Slayers that had been lost that day. Her focus was saving the people still living "I can't help people that are gone...but I can help Sarah. Your warlock friend...do you think he could help me cut the cord so Ward can't track them?"
Oz inhales tightly as his fingers tap against his coffee mug, his mind contemplating her request, it wasn't a guarantee but all she was asking for was a chance and after everything that had happened...he wanted to be able to help her find that small bit of hope in the world again "I'll set up a meeting."
