THE DEMONIC WORLD: SUNNYDALE, CALIFORNIA
NINE YEARS AGO

Storming into Giles's apartment a 17-year-old Buffy Anne Summers freezes as the sound of the steps creaking echoed through the house, sending shivers up her spine.

"I don't think he's here."

Pivoting on her feet to face the unfamiliar voice, Buffy frowns in confusion as she spots a man in a long black coat and a weird-ass hat, this definitely wasn't her Watcher nor was he was on Angelus's evil vampire lackeys "Who are you?"
Whistler smiles softly as he watches the young Slayer, she had definitely grown up, this wasn't the same little baby princess he dropped off on the Summers doorstep 17 years ago "Whistler."
Rolling her eyes Buffy clenches her jaw tightly as she glares at the mysterious figure, she needed to find Giles she was close to snapping at this point "What are you doing here?"

"I'm waiting for you." He explains as he reaches the base of the stairs while she merely quirks a brow at him, having no idea that her real father did the exact same thing when he was skeptical of someone's motives "Why?"

"Cause I-I-I need a date to the prom."

Buffy couldn't help but clench her fist tightly at his jokes, she was so not in the mood for games right now. Without hesitation, she takes two steps over to him and grabs him by the throat, shoving him up against the wall causing him to groan as his head hits the wall painfully. Ignoring his wince of pain, Buffy merely narrows her gaze at him "I have had a really bad day, okay? If you have information worth hearing, then I am grateful for it. If you're gonna crack jokes, then I'm gonna pull out your ribcage and wear it as a hat."

"Hello to imagery!" Whistler exclaims as she finally releases him "You were nicer as a baby."
"What?" She mumbles causing him to sigh slightly as he watches her.

Whistler sighs before moving around her, making his way over to Giles's private bar grinning at the sight of bourbon "Got to love an Englishman." He mumbles before turning to face the young girl in front of him, she looked so much like her father yet she had no idea "Look kid when you were chosen...it wasn't supposed to go down like this." He explains as he begins pouring himself a drink, being careful with his words. He wasn't allowed to tell her everything at least not yet "You were just supposed to save the world till you were 26 then go back."
"Go back where?" Buffy hisses as she stares at him with wide eyes having no idea what the hell he was talking about, to be honest, he sounded freaking crazy "Have you lost all brain function?"

"The Wardrobe."

At his sudden words, Buffy freezes slightly, images of that damn wardrobe filling her mind, she had been seeing that damn thing in her head for years. Ripping the glass from his hands she launches it at the wall glaring up at him. She had never told anyone about that wardrobe, not a single soul "How did you know about that?"
"It's important for later on, kid." He explains vaguely before smiling weakly "You're Slayer dreams... let's just say no Slayer had dreams as specific as yours." While she merely frowns in confusion he chuckles slightly, she really had no idea that her ability to see fate and danger had never been a Slayer gift. Yes, becoming the Slayer had enhanced the ability but it had always been within her. A gift she received as a child born to true love.

Buffy scoffs at him before shaking her head in disbelief, she didn't buy this he was just trying to spin her in circles so she didn't beat him to death "You don't have anything useful to tell me, do you? What are you, just some immortal demon sent down to even the score between good and evil?"

"Wow...good guess."

THE ENCHANTED FOREST: PRESENT DAY

"I don't know if I can do this." Aurora mumbles nervously as the five women continue on their journey back to the safe haven where they would soon have to explain the whole Cora/Lancelot switcheroo "I'm not a very good liar."
"It's not really lying." Buffy argues as she glances over at the princess "It's more twisting the truth. Like when you sneak your boyfriend in through your bedroom window after your mom tells him to leave. Technically he left; just came back."
Emma couldn't help but snort from beside her sister, she could practically see Buffy as a teenager sneaking her boyfriend in through her window every night "How many times were you twisting the truth as a kid?"
"Now if I tell you that, I'd have to kill you."

Mary Margaret couldn't help but smile as she watches her girls let out a small laugh, they were bonding and the sight of it just warmed her heart. She only wished that she could be part of this as well, she wanted nothing more than to bond with her daughters. However, that small smile on her lips quickly fell away as they approach the camp only to be met with nothing but death and mayhem.

The entire camp had been slaughtered, innocent people lying on the ground, their hearts ripped from their chests. There was nothing but death and caution, the once safe haven had been destroyed.
"Holy crap on a cracker." Buffy breathes as she tightens her hand around the handle of her scythe before stepping over the seemingly endless array of bodies laid out across the grass.

"This can't be." Mulan whispers, grief and anger filling her eyes as she stares at the bodies of her fallen friends "Our land, we were protected here, hidden. How did the ogres find us?"

While Mulan and Buffy stand back to back, both of them with their weapons raised ready to attack if another threat were to show its face, Mary Margaret eyes the dead bodies closely. Horror filling her as she stares at the holes in their chests "Ogres didn't do this." She breaths drawing everyone's attention "Cora did. Their hearts...they were ripped out. This was her magic...twisted and evil. We have to stop her."

Mulan merely shakes her head as she tears her eyes off the fallen bodies of her friends, a hopeless look filling her eyes "It's too late. She killed them. She killed them all."
"We have to stop her before she hurts anyone else."

Buffy couldn't help but nod in agreement with Mary Margaret's words. Cora needed to be stopped. Clenching her jaw tightly Buffy couldn't help but feel the anger filling her gut, the sight of all the bodies piled up on top of each other brought back those horrifying images of her friend's dead corpses dumped on top of each other. Without any care, as though they were nothing; worthless.
Seeing this was forcing those memories back into her mind, memories that she had spent years trying to bury...Cora needed to die and Buffy was intent on beheading the damn witch with her bare hands.

"We will." She forces out harshly as she glares down at the dead bodies in front of her "She's gonna pay...I'll make sure of it."

"Hey!" Emma exclaims suddenly drawing the other women's attention as she runs over to the pile of bodies and begins pushing the corpses aside "Hey! Look!"
"There's someone under there." Aurora realizes as she moves to help Emma "He's alive."

Buffy frowns slightly as she approaches, her eyes landing on the male figure being pulled out of the carnage. A handsome man with dark hair, bright blue eyes, and a missing hand "Please help me." He begs as Emma and Aurora pull him to his feet.

"It's okay." Mary Margaret replies kindly offering the man a small smile "You're safe now, we won't hurt you."

However, despite Mary Margaret's kind soothing words, Buffy was eyeing the handsome man carefully and as his eyes met hers...she had a strong feeling they wouldn't be keeping that promise for long.
