Chapter Twenty Seven

Boise, Idaho

"Where are the others?" Jake immediately asked.

"Follow me," Emmett told him, never letting go of Rose's hand as they came to stand in front of the large silver door that was stopping Carlisle and Jasper from leaving. "It's locked from this side and it's made of silver - I can't touch it."

"I can," Esme informed them, gently pushing past everyone and kneeling in front of the door, using majick she summoned her lock picking kit and quickly began to unlock the door.

Jake and Emmett watched, impressed as she quickly pulled out two tools and began to pick the lock like she'd been doing it her entire life. After thirty seconds or so there was a 'click' and Esme stood up and opened the door to reveal Jasper and Carlisle stood on the other side.

"Are you alright?" Carlisle immediately asked Emmett, concern in his eye as he looked for any physical injuries.

"We're fine," Emmett told him, his hand still clasped around Rose's.

"We need to get to Bella," Rose told them all, turning away from the room and leading them to the bedroom they had been kept in.

Behind them, Jasper looked at the door and then looked at Esme who was still holding her lock picking kit. "You'll have to teach me how to do that sometime."

"You don't know how to do this?" Esme asked, almost shocked that a vampire couldn't do something that wasn't exactly difficult.

Jasper shook his head. "I usually just break down doors, but as proven by today, sometimes that isn't an option."

The group came to stand in front of the room where Bella and Rose had been held as once again Esme knelt down on the ground and began to pick the lock.

"Where's Sulpicia?" Carlisle asked his oldest. His eyes were glancing around as if he was waiting for her to jump out at any second.

"Indisposed... for the time being," Emmett muttered. What he'd done wouldn't kill her, but it would injure her. And because it was daytime it would also take her longer to heal. It was something that was working to his advantage.

In front of them, Esme rose gracefully as she managed to unlock the door and opened it to reveal Bella sat on the bed, looking shocked at the group who were now gathered in her doorway.

"Bella!" Rose exclaimed, dropping Emmett's hand and running towards her cousin.

"What's going on?" Bella asked as she stood up, looking at the group with confusion on her face.

"We're leaving," Carlisle told her before he turned to Emmett. "Where's Edward?"

Emmett shrugged his shoulders. "Sulpicia took him to Tanya - I don't know what happened after that."

"We need to find him," Carlisle said as worry began to spread through him. Tanya and Edward in the same room was never a good idea.

Bella was still confused as Rose led her down the stairs and they entered the large foyer, Carlisle breathing deeply as he tried to make out his son's scent. Carlisle stopped short when he saw a large pool of blood on the floor with a trail leading to a door.
