Lucy POV:

Having to say goodbye to Shô and Wally in the morning was poignant. They had finally agreed that they would swing by the guildhalls and check in and I couldn't help but wish I was going with them. Talking about old-times last night had brought up the fact that I hadn't seen anybody in almost seven months. Though it was hard being in the guild seeing everyone getting on with their lives it was turning out to be harder not seeing them at all. Laxus had me checking in every few weeks but lately it had been hit and miss and a simple 'hello, not dead, goodbye'. Normally I checked in after I had run into a problem or after I had run into another dead end on my quests.

Waving goodbye, I turned back the way I was originally going and waited as Virgo popped back out. According to the map she had our next destination was a small village called Little Root Town which is on the way to a possible ruin site. It turned out we weren't that far off last night, if we'd kept walking we would have hit it before long. As the two of us walked along I once more started asking her about her time in the spirit world. It turned out that her and Libra had a standing appointment in the celestial gym and liked to one up each other in their aerobic exercises. I have no idea how but she conned me into running to the next town over as part of my daily training regime. I had to fight to keep Capricorn away as I could hear his voice saying I should be going faster and wearing weights. Shaking off the shudder I focused on the sounds I could hear up ahead it looked like the townsfolk were up and moving.

Smiling and nodding at the people as we passed by I quickly told Virgo to look for any information on the ruins that were rumoured to be hidden in the mountains near here. After she disappeared underground I wandered off to my first destination from the routine I'd set myself: Magic shop, town hall, and library. I made sure to talk to the people on the streets about any information about ruin sites or possible details on mysterious happening occurring near water. It was while I was investigating the town hall (for any little jobs I could do in a day for extra jewels) that the mayor saw my interest in the messaging/job board. I watched as he did a double take on my guild mark before he started shouting at me about how glad he was to see me. Confused it took me several minutes to get the straight story.

It turned out a darkness monster had been terrorising the town come nightfall and the town had applied to the guilds to stop it. By coincidence a FairyTail wizard had been sent out to investigate and take care of the problem. The wizard had turned up a few days ago and gone after the monster since then the monster hadn't shown up but also the wizard hadn't returned to claim his reward. When the mayor finished speaking I was worried, there was no way a FairyTail wizard didn't come back to talk to the client about a job well done, let alone the jewels; it was a matter of honour with us. After asking a couple more questions this time concerning the monster and its whereabouts and habits I set off to investigate even though I knew it would lead to trouble especially if the wizard turned out to be someone I knew well. Praying it wasn't anyone from my old team, though since the town was still standing was a good indicator that none of team disaster had been through lately. Knowing I had to help even if it meant an end to my own personal adventure, I couldn't let these people live in fear of whether the monster would return.

Assuring the mayor that I'd check it out, and report back I quickly made my way through town keeping an eye out for Virgo I didn't want to simply call her back in case she was doing something important

Assuring the mayor that I'd check it out, and report back I quickly made my way through town keeping an eye out for Virgo I didn't want to simply call her back in case she was doing something important. Thinking on my feet I rushed into the nearby stores and grabbed what supplies I thought I might need to deal with a darkness monster and the journey getting there. I suddenly felt Virgo return to the spirit world and not wasting any time summoned her. After explaining the change in plans and listening to what she had discovered from the townsfolk, I had her go back out and ask about the monster, it's attacks, it's patterns and any information she could find on its possible location. The major had given me a general direction that the other wizard had set off in but he couldn't tell me why he went that way. Knowing that several of our members had tracking abilities it wasn't a stretch that they had gotten a clue as to where the monster was. It looked like I would just have to hope that nothing had gone too wrong and that I would make it there in time to help my nakama. Mavis knows trouble seems to follow us around.
