Supergirl had been patrolling the city for the past hour, taking down every single crime possible. Kara Danvers had finished her article and failed in getting her new article approved by her terrible boss, Snapper Carr, so she disappeared into her office, answering every knock on the door with. "I'm busy!" (An automatic device, courtesy of the one and only Winn Schott Jr. It attaches to the back of the door and replies an automated voice message from Kara when it senses a vibration like a knock. It even has an on/off switch.) It had been a week since she had rejected a certain someone, and she couldn't focus on flying while she can hear Lena taking calls and meetings.

Lena Luthor wants to avoid both of them. She didn't want to see Supergirl's ocean blue eyes that make Lena feel like she's drowning in a sea of lust. But Kara's eyes, though they were the same gorgeous blue, offered something completely different. Behind Kara's eyes was a sea of love, kindness, and compassion. Kara made Lena forget the weight of her last name and the pressure of work. Lena didn't know if she could resist either blonde. Each woman offered something completely different. One offered only physical love, that would probably only last a few weeks before Lena hated herself for it and relapsed into drugs, alcohol, and self-harm. Kara, on the other hand, offered morning kisses before they even got out of bed, little kisses on the shoulder as they looked out the window, and maybe even their own little family. But Kara also had done something, and what Kara had done completely canceled out everything she offered. She had let Lena kiss her and hold her until she felt she had a chance to tear it away. So Lena had decided to distance herself from both Supergirl and Kara, meaning separating herself from Sam and Ruby as well. Someone knocked on the door suddenly, shaking Lena from her little pity party .

"Lena?" The person called. Lena rolled her eyes and downed the rest of her drink, assuming it was her new assistant, Jess.

"Jess, I'm working on the paperwork right now. Tell Oliver I'll have it for our meeting tomorrow." Lena muttered, but the woman who entered her office was definitely not Jess. This woman had at least five years on Jess and those ocean eyes Lena had been hoping to avoid.

"I'm not Jess. Can we talk?" Kara asked.

"I'm busy, Kara." Lena sighed. Kara's eyebrows furrowed together, creating a little crinkle between them.

"I really need to talk to you." The blonde was almost begging.

"Ten minutes, then I have a lot of work to do." Lena agreed, cursing herself mentally for caving.

"I'm so sorry I led you on. I really just couldn't bring myself to let you down. I really do like you, but I'm fresh out of a two year relationship and I need some time to settle things for myself as my own person. Like, what the hell am I still doing wearing the same clothes as I did in high school?" Kara attempted to joke, but she only earned a shrug from Lena. "I haven't been single for awhile and I need to just be Kara for awhile before I jump into something with you, or it'll never work out." Kara explained.

"You need time and space. Single time and space. I get it. You need to find a reason not to date me. I'm used to rejection, Miss Danvers." Lena replied stiffly, setting down her pen and looking Kara straight in the eyes. She would never be this much of an asshole to Kara sober and she knew it, but it didn't matter right now. All that mattered was that Kara kissed her and smiled and let her in, just to shut her right back out.

"I'm not talking myself out of it! I promise you that. I've just had a ton of experience with bad relationships and I know what'll happen if I just pretend to be ready for a relationship when I don't even know if I'm ready to admit to myself that Lucy was a terrible person." Kara tried to make Lena understand, but the already stubborn Luthor was even more stubborn after alcohol.

"Sure. Just go, Kara. I have work to do." Lena spat. Kara nodded and slipped out of the office, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth as she dialed her sister's number. Tears threatened to spill, but Kara held them back.

"Hello?" Alex answered the phone without checking to see who it was again.

"I went to see Lena." Kara murmured, her voice shaky.

"Oh, Kar. We'll go to the bar tonight, okay? Sister night." Alex sighed, glancing at her wife and daughter.

"You have Rubes and Sam." Kara declined the offer, hoping Winn and James were free.

"Come see us for misery ice cream tomorrow, okay? Rubes misses her Aunt Kara." Alex's tone was gentle and soft, but Kara could hear Ruby scrambling to get the phone at the sound of her aunt's name.

"I have to go. Tell Ruby hi." Kara hung up and stepped into an alley, slipping her glasses into her purse and pulling off her flannel shirt and jeans. Kara dropped off her bag at home before flying to the alien dive bar, texting her friends on the way.
