"I'm sorry, Lils." James whispered, stroking her hair. "I know Marls is your best friend, if anything happened to Sirius, or Remus-"
Lily sat up. "Marry me." she interrupted.

"Sirius had a ring for her, James. He told me last week. And now look what's happened. Marlene is dead."
