After Lily told James she would rather go out with the Giant Squid in the lake then him, Sirius got busy.
About a week later, Sirius showed Lily 'evidence' that the Giant Squid was actually already dating Remus. He showed her letters, pictures, even dragged her and Marlene down to the lake to show them the carved initials of Remus and the Giant Squid.
Lily rolled her eyes, but Sirius swears to this very day he saw a hint of a smile on her lips.
Ps. Remus was not happy and demanded Sirius go tell the Giant Squid it was over (he was too embarassed to do it himself, plus the Giant Squid was actually dating the Loch Ness Monster, so.)
