The rest of the school day went without further delays. At the sound of the last bell, Justin slowly packed his things and tiredly dragged himself to his locker  to drop off what is not needed and pick up what is.

He walked out of the school with the entire student body clearing a path for him (like he's Moses and they were the Red Sea) and he stepped off the school compound. Instead of heading back to the house though, he took a different route and head towards the towns library for his part time job. If not for this job, he would've succumbed to his foster family's ways a long time ago. He got the job in his first year and had it ever since. It was the only job he could tolerate (for now anyways). It starts at 2:30 and ended at 5 and by that time, Justin was well on his way to his second job that he got during the summer at a local restaurant.

Once he stepped through the door of the restaurant, that annoying little bell went off and it just made his already annoyed mode plummet. He headed towards the kitchen, since that was where he worked.

His boss early on learned he wasn't the most social person, doesn't talk and is often times left to wonder if the look on his face was mode swings or how he always looked. His job here was pretty simple like at the library. All he did was look after the kitchen: wash dishes; mop the floor and so on (and if he was in a particularly OK mood, he'd help the Cook, well, cook). He never had to work the register, serve customers, or just overall interact with people; just the way he likes it. He has been really lucky snagging these two jobs and Justin thought so himself. If it wasn't for this second job, his savings would have been significantly dwindling. Seeing that his savings was what was gonna get him out of this town.
His boss was a nice guy and sometimes gave treats and food, which he ate as dinner. So Justin has been quite a lucky guy.

It seemed he wasn't lucky today though.

The moment he stepped through the door he wanted to leave –although he felt that every time he stepped through the doors– but today was different. He dismissed the vibes however and went straight to work in the kitchen with washing up the dishes.

"Ah there you are Justin. I've been waiting for you", his boss showed sounding none too happy. "We kinda short of staff today because Miranda came down with the flu and will be out of commission for awhile. I know you don't like working upfront but you'll have to be serving the customers for the next few days until she comes back okay?"

Justin didn't respond.

Its not that he couldn't respond, it's just that he didn't need to. It was pretty packed and his boss had already made up his mind so there was no need to argue. If the man didn't mind him not talking or anything why the hell should he? He's not the boss here and all Justin really cares about is that he gets pay at the end of the week. His services ain't free.

Justin gave the man a long, hard bored stare that had the man spluttering to come up with a further explanation.

"I mean, I know you, um, your very—silent and all and its not what you signed up for but you'll be getting the same pay as the other waiters and waitresses. I mean, its not that hard and, you know, I'd really appreciate the extra hand".

The poor man looked like he was close to tears for whatever reason Justin had no clue. He didn't even know why the man was still there talking to him. He wasn't interested in an explanation, it was just a waste of time. The sound of a raise did sound nice though.

Justin walked off leaving his boss who was simply embarrassing himself further by opening his mouth, and put on an apron.
He walked out to the front not even glancing back at the over embarrassed man and left the room.
