The walk to the diner was painfully quiet. I kept my eyes on the sidewalk, occasionally sneaking a glance at Peter's foot which could've easily squashed mine in one step.

The breeze attacked my hair, causing it to have even more tangles. I screamed inwardly, trying my best to brush it down with my hands. I felt Peter glance down at me, his hands buried in his jean pockets.

"I like your hair."

My hands froze mid hair rub. "Thanks?"

He bit his lip. "No problem."

We continued walking, the silence growing and my stomach growling. He stood taller as if discovering something. "You're hungry."

"Am not." I argued.

"You sure about that?"

"Yes!" Not sure why I was being so snappy.

He looked down at me as we walked, a little smile on his lips. "Well that's weird, 'cause I just heard this growling noise coming from your direction, so unless you're part wolf or bear, I don't believe you."

I shook my head, crossing my arms. "I'm not hungry."

"Bummer. I sure am," He gave me the cheesiest grin in the history of cheesy grins.

He held the door open for me once we arrived at the diner. I looked around, inhaling the sweet smells of French fries, vanilla cakes and apple cinammon pie. My stomach continued to growl even louder. Peter walked up next to me. "Still not hungry?"

I felt the corners of my lips turn up, and I quickly walked to the nearest booth.

"Okay, I'll have the double macaroni and cheese cheeseburger with large fries and a regular chocolate milkshake please." Peter told the waitress.

She was an older woman. Tall and thin, with strands of gray hair falling down her face. She scribbled in her tiny notepad and turned to face me. "And you?"

I gulped, eyeing the menu. Everything looked amazing. "Umm...how's the pasta here?"

The waitress looked at me with a dull expression. "It's alright."

Good enough for me. "Great, I'll have that please."

Peter scoffed. "Uh, pasta? You sure you don't want to try the mac and cheese burger?"
