We arrived at the school twenty minutes later. I walked in, immediately feeling a rush of panic. If any teacher noticed me, they'd immediately call my mother. I couldn't risk her finding out where I was. I had to help Peter. I had to know whatever he wanted me to know.
He strolled in behind me, his curly head held high. I looked up at him, secretly wishing I could be as confident as him for once.
He wore the same white T shirt with light blue jeans and his white converses; not a hint of a stain on them. As he walked past me, I realized he still smelled like fresh soap and clothing detergent, despite not even showering.
Lucky.
I looked down at my burgundy Teen Wolf pullover hoodie and dark skinny jeans.
Decent. I thought, wiggling my toes inside my black converses.
Peter glanced around, his lips in a tight line. Various students passed by us, laughing and talking about anything and everything. He spotted someone be recognized, and quickly raised his hand out to greet him.
"Jeffrey, wassup man..."
Jeffrey, however, looked completely through him, saw another one of his friends, and greeted them instead. Peter stood uncomfortably still, suddenly remembering he was only visible to me. I saw his shoulders slouch a bit, before he faked a smile.
"Let's go..." he started walking, but I quickly pulled his arm back.
"Whoa, what's wrong?" He looked down at me as I tried to hide my face from everyone.
"Um... no one's supposed to see me." I whispered.
"What?" He tilted and lowered his head to hear me better.
I sighed, quickly scanning the halls. "I'm supposed to be home resting, so if one of the teachers or students say they saw me today, my mom will find out. Then she won't leave me home alone again."
He lifted his head back up, towering over me. "Don't worry," he shrugged. "Just hide behind me."
I squinted my eyes up at him, then looked to the side, at an imaginary camera capturing my reaction. Peter raised an eyebrow, obvious confusion on his face, then finally understood.
"Ohhhhhh... right..."
"Is there anything else we should clear up?" I smiled sarcastically, keeping my head low.
