annabeth POV:

I wake up and turn off my alarm clock.

"annabeth, breakfast is ready!" calls my stepmother

"okay I'll be there in a minute!" I call back, sliding out of bed. I grab my school uniform and get dressed and walk down the hall to the kitchen.

"morning, ready for school?" my stepmother says smiling at me

"yeah. I guess"

"well I've arranged with the family downstairs that you can walk in with their daughter. she's 13 and she's actually really nice"

"okay thanks"

"you're welcome now eat your breakfast you have a busy day ahead"

"fine" I say, digging in

"BOYS! GET OUT OF BED YOUR BREAKFAST IS READY!!!" my stepmother calls out to my dad and stepbrothers. I giggle and finish my breakfast and grab my bag just as there's a knock on the door. I open it and a girl my age is standing there

"hi there. I'm Emma you must be annabeth. so ready for school?" she says happily

"yeah. let's go" I say "bye guys see you later!" I call back into the apartment before walking out and closing the door and head to school with Emma.
