“What do you mean you burned the memorial?” Hindi makapaniwalang anas ko. Both of my palms are leaning on his table as I gazed at him annoyingly.
“What? I know you would just reject it anyway, so I burned it right away.” Binagsak ko sa pangalawang pagkakataon ang magkabilang kamay ko kaya napatingin siya nang diretso sa akin.
“How would you know I would reject it? Hindi ikaw, ako! You are so unreasonable!” Tumaas na ang boses ko. Imbis magalit dahil sinisigawan ko siya, nagawa niya pang ngumisi.
“What’s going on? Why do I feel like you suddenly want to be admitted on Elysian Institute of Magic? Did the sun rise in the west?” Padabog akong umupo sa upuan na nasa harap lang ng mesa niya.
“Why do you care?” irita kong tanong.
“I’m pretty sure there’s a reason why you barged in my office, asking for the memorial, and then went fuming mad after I confessed I burned it with my own hands.” I bit the skin inside my left cheek. Kapag nakikita ko siya’y hindi ko pa rin maiwasang mainis.
It’s been three days after my secret was revealed in the whole Academy. In those three days, their treatment changed. Tuwing nakikita nila ako o nakaksalubong sa daan, umiiwas sila’t pinagbibigyan ako ng daan. Natatakot silang pagbulungan at pag-usapan ako kung malapit ako sa kanila.
“Why, Flare? Are you finally planning to get in there?” Dahil naririndi na rin ako kakatanong niya, mas mabuti pa sigurong sagutin ko na siya para naman tumahimik na siya.
“Yes, I am planning to. After all, it’s you who keeps on pushing me to go there. Are you satisfied with my answer?” Tumaas ang sulok ng labi niya na para bang may isang bagay siyang napagtagumpayang gawin.
“Too bad, I just burned it minute ago.” Bumagsak ang balikat ko. That memorial was my last chance to get admitted. I burned the invitation from King Blizzard, and how I wished I didn’t burn it back then.
“Next time, don’t decide like you owned it. You are a member of a royal family, is it not? I’m pretty sure it’s an etiquette to never open a memorial that was not meant for you to open.” I said as blunt as I could. He just let out a soft chuckle, and then his face turned into a serious one.
“Yes, I am a member of a royal family, and I could instantly order someone to punish you for being unruly towards me.” Nginisihan ko lang siya.
