"I see you, Anne."

No, Anne thought and groaned.

"like constellations splattered across your skin; the vastness and depth you spoke of—I see that in you and hear of it everytime you speak."

Stop, make it stop.

Jolting awake, Anne opened her eyes just as she saw Gilbert's pleading look as she yelled at him and threw his letter at him.

Why? Just why. I'm so confused, and I'm confused about why I'm confused.

Anne had fallen asleep shortly after going her room once Charlie had left.

His face, his pleading eyes. I don't get it. He surely can't mean it, but Charlie said it wasn't a big prank. Even if it was, would Gilbert really have partaken?

No, of course not. Gilbert hates all the stupid games the boys played, but then why had he written that letter?

"AHG!" Anne stood up and walked to her mirror. She hadn't combed her hair or done anything. She poured water into her washbasin and wash her face. Brushed through her tangled hair, and decided to leave it down. She wasn't really in the mood to do anything extra—not even put her hair in it's normal plaits.

She looked at herself in the mirror, she felt like a cooped up house pet, and needed out.

"Some fresh air would be good for me anyways."

Anne walked down the stairs, to see Marilla starting supper.

"Marilla, I need some air. May I go for a walk? I'll be back for supper."

"Okay child," Marilla smiled at Anne, "take a jacket it's starting to get chilly."

"Okay," Anne replied, absentmindedly as she stepped out the front door—without a jacket.

She started down her normal forest path when she stopped suddenly, and turned around. She started sprinting.

Why did I come here? I don't even know if I was conscious of making the choice to come here, but oh well.

Anne stepped out of the forest and into the magnificent flower field....on Blythe farm.

Gilbert hadn't moved. Easily and hour after he had watched Charlie walk away and disappear headed for Green Gables, Gilbert still hadn't moved. He was near the outskirts of the family farm, so he gathered himself and started walking.

Realizing where he was Gilbert stopped. He didn't want to walk into that field—not after last night; however, he did want to remember the look on Anne's face as she opened her eyes, her laugh, and her scream as he 'caught' her. He decided to climb a tree in the edge of the field; saying to himself,
"I'm not in the field, but this way I can see the whole field and remember."

His memory was just getting him to when Anne took off running when he saw a flash of red in his peripheral. Gilbert shook his head, thinking his imagination was getting the best of him. There it was again.

Gilbert leaned down on the branch he sat on, looking across the field into the opposite part of the forest. Suddenly she appeared.

"Anne," Gilbert whispered to himself.
