A misjudged timing

Stupid, stupid, UNFORGIVABLY STUPID! I dodged Shadow's strike, just to reveal Charlie. I look down at Charlie, a dark, wispy wound slashes across his chest. His features darken, until he is blanketed in shadow. I know this look, it's how my grandmother looked before she died. "I need to find a way to expel the shadow from his body, but how?" I mutter to myself. Shadow grins, backing away from Charlie. "You remember this, DON'T YOU? This is how your grandmother, the poor, frail thing, went, wasn't it?" He mocks. I grimace, staring at Charlie, he starts to wisp away, just like her. "Unless you find a way to geal him, he's gonna wisp away, isn't he?" Shadow says. I stare at Charlie, he's wisping faster now. I do what my mother would never want me to do, extend my power to a human. I start to feel weaker as a small part of my power leaves me, healing Charlie and expelling the shadows from his body. Shadow stares at Charlie, who is brightening. "How, how can you," Shadow cuts off, "BE SO STUPID!!! YOU REALLY THOUGHT THAT GIVING YOUR POWER TO A HUMAN WOULD HELP YOU DEFEAT ME?" Shadow screeches. I laugh. Charlie looks at me concerningly. "Uhh, Seto? You okay?" Charlie says. I continue to laugh. "Yes." I say. "There is power in numbers. Power that is unseen by ANY lone power user." I say. "Shadow, I know that this is not the first time you have been threatened, so back down!" Charlie says, apparently feeling my power coursing through him. "OR WHAT?" Shadow says. "Or else we'll banish you back to where you belong!" I say. Charlie stares at me, "Uhh, Seto, I don't know how to use your power..." Charlie says. Wait, Charlie was CONSCIOUS that ENTIRE time? I stare at him. "Just feel it coursing throu-" Shadow interrupts me, " CAN YOU PLEASE STOP FRATERNIZING AND DEMONSTRATE ALREADY?" Shadow yells. I wonder why he hasn't attacked yet. No tune to wonder. I grab Charlie's hand. A warm feeling passes over me. I ignore it. I concentrate on expelling Shadow from this realm. I loom at Charlie, "It's time."
