So, guys, it's Halloween, time for some spookiness and scare.
This poem is a story that is scarier than any scare.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shut your mouth and
Listen to what
I have to
Say.
I'm going to take
You back
To that one specific day.
The whole country
Was shaken.
Only one name 'Nirbhaya'
Was taken.

It isn't forgotten
And never
Will be.
Let me put a light
On that day, so
That another 'Nirbhaya'
Can be free.

Its 9 in the
Night
And she was off duty.
She walked on
The road
Illuminated by streetlights
Rather than using
Footpaths.
She walked with
Her head down,
Holding her dupatta close
To her so nobody
Can pull it.
She checked whether
Anything is
Revealing.
It doesn't matter if
She wears a
Burqa or mini skirt,
A looming threat
Of sexual assault never leaves her.

She took each step
With the constant fear of
Danger lurking
In some corner.
More cautious than ever,
More observant
That she could be.
She walked straight,
Pretending
To be on the phone,
Talking to
Someone.

It's not easy
To walk in the streets.
People pass
Lewd comments and
Vehicles slow
Down next to her.
Somehow she
Made it to the bus stop.
The bus came
And she
Boarded on it.
She sat on a seat waiting
For her stop.
She had no clue
Of what was in store
For her.

They came in, six men.
She will never
Forget the sight of
Them.
She cried and tried
To run away.
She was slap
In the face.
Thrown against
The wall.
Beaten senselessly.
And that
pain of her innocent
Soul dieing
Slowly.
She felt deep pain
As every clothing
She had on was getting
Torn off in
Fast motion.
She tried very hard to
Fight back.
She felt like the world
Was crashing
Down on her.

She was thrown out
Of that running
Bus.
She was laying on
The ground,
Thinking, what her parents
Would think
When she will tell them
What had happened?

She didn't deserve
It, but then  she
Had no choice.
She had to endure it,
For she had
No voice.
She was in the hospital
And it's been
Four days.
The pain was so bad
That she only
Had a wish of death.
A tear leaves her
Eye and
She breathed
Her last.

It's not about one or two.
It's the same
Story each time.
It happens on daily
Basis.
Sometimes in cities,
Many times in remote,
Isolated villages
And Towns.
Those are the incidents
We would
Never find about.

They accused her, you
Never seemed
To care.
Now she lays in
A black coffin full of
Despair.
It's all over now
And
You want her back.
She can't just
Go back now.
She is
No longer under attack.

So forget her but
Remember,
This country failed women
And also her.
This is a place where
Goddesses
Are worshipped and
Land is
A mother.

She tried hard
To protest.
She felt the pain to
Picture her own
Grave.
All this because
Fear got hold
On to
Her.
Yet she is called
Nirbhaya- the fearless.
