The nakedness and helplessness of sleep

And nightly,

the nakedness and helplessness of sleep

we

shed ourselves of clothes and fears.

lying in bed

blankets our only cover. . .

we unarm ourselves of

day's vigilance. . .

our eyes and ears

put away

like sentries removed from duty.

letting go

of self-care. . .

trusting that we're

tumbling

into invisible but capable Arms.
