bass bounces through the cold soundproof walls as the elder played drafted beats— adding beats on another, over and over, it was a ceaseless pattern.

and yes, acting like yoongi's ass wasn't pressed against his dick the night prior; the usual. who would've thought innocent spooning could go wrong?

neither of them did.

how thick the atmosphere felt made his throat itch is not measurable— hoseok coughed and almost chokes on his own spit. thank god, he didn't.

the distance between them was circled with nothing but unwanted air of something between unspoken words and embarassing flush of neck (or ears).

the silence shatters when yoongi's voice breaks through it, "should i add this beat in or...?" it felt a filler, a filler to patch up the distance they both don't know if they wanted.

hoseok tries not to overthink. over feel. over comprehend.

"let's try it." he adds to the patches, pretending to be using his head like gears there work.

the elder complies with a curt nod, clicking through the record with the sound of its pit-pats in his head, and hoseok is stuck wondering why he couldn't help but stare at busy slender fingers— there's many more things to stare at, he thinks. he thinks. but he doesn't avert his eyes.

"it sounds too much for me." yoongi comments, looking at the younger for some sort of reply, "kinda good for transition though?" he adds in suggestion.

the moment hangs for a few yet long-felt seconds, "jung?" yoongi snaps his finger and the younger jolts.

"oh- yeah sorry, can you play it again for a sec?" the elder runs his tongue against his inner cheek— he forgives the daydreaming cutie that sports nervous laugh.

"pay attention." yoongi runs the audio again, only to find hoseok's eyes that looked too sharp and too deep— then there's the lick of goosebumps that touches yhe back of his neck and ears, he almost winces. way to go. be professional, damn it.

the elder, out of instinct, completely stares back while his jaw went slack from locking it too long.

fuck, what's up—

"jung?"

something. something in the way hoseok saunters his gaze on him tampers with his insides, knots squirming in the pit of his guts.

"sorry hyung," his whispers cramped between gritting teeth. he does the little skile he does when his embarassed, he chuckles too, yet so weakly.

yoongi could not poster the energy to scold, so he lets it go.

then the night continues till yoongi gets tired of himself, being too self-critical and overthinking details and when hoseok looks too tired and distracted to even speak.

---

if hoseok was to name a place where thoughts and hunger are meant to fade at the same time, a convenience store would be it.

hoseok filled their ramen cups with hot water while yoongi microwaves the sausages. it feels familiar— if not domestic, hoseok remembers doing the same when they were still trainees, when they were too broke to even afford two meals and had to share one even after extreme hours of training and maybe share laughs (or tears) along the night.

"hyung, hyung! the ramen is ready!" he cheers, placing the cups on their table that stands alone from ones near the glass windows.

they talk and talk and talk. a thousand of words shared between too many snacks and spicy food. the sky shifts too slowly that day, as if they're giving them more time to circle around each other in the dark of the night.

the digital clock that blinks near the exit, and soon beeps, 06:00 AM, it reads.

yoongi took the last sip from his can of beer before crashing it with his hands after a satified hum. when the younger pouted, yoongi just chuckles and takes his neglected half-empty can of beer.

"let's go now, honey pie." yoongi yawns, lazily stretching his arms.

"piggyback?" hoseok offers.

yoongi scrunched his nose, he contemplates— but not really because it took a split second before he answers, "what am i gonna do? say no?" he climbed on hoseoks back, loosely wrapping his arms around the other's neck. the last thing he wants is to choke the other over an act of kindness (at least not in this sense).

---

the door opens even before he dials their passcode, only to reveal a disheveled jimin, sleep still evident from the lines of beddings drawn on his skin.

"do you have any idea what time is it?" jimin talks between puckered lips and he frowns along it too; if it just wasn't for his intimidating gaze, hoseok would've chuckled.

he couldn't help but ask what the puffiness of jimin's eyes can already answer him. "did you stay up all night?"

"not exactly but i was waiting for you, hyung." jimin eyes yoongi and steps on his side, he opens the door wider and leaves enough entrance for them.

"oh?"

"you promised to watch movies with me the other night, remember?"

"oh shoot. right." hoseok stopped from his tracks. "didn't you— uh, we can watch later, no?"

"you both look tired, just go to bed." jimin says, "it doesn't really matter." he walks off, rubbing his eyes with his knuckles.

hoseok watches him go and swallows the guilt bubbling in his throat.

it didn't really help when he sighs at the same second he hears their bedroom door slam against concrete.
