Third Person's POV

Mikey was up on a rooftop, thinking about earlier's events. He had failed at making his brothers smile, had failed at keeping them safe.

They were hurt, all because he couldn't stop fooling around. He led the danger right to them. Just like he always does.

Donnie was watching from afar. He knew that Mikey was upset. He was here to comfort him, but stopped walking forward when he saw Mikey stand up.

What are you doing, Mikey, Donnie thought. He waited, and his eyes widened as he saw Mikey walk towards the ledge.

Donnie walked closer, being able to catch what Mikey was saying to himself. ".....never needed me. I'm just a pushover. They're better off without me," Mikey whispered.

Donnie froze for a minute. Th-That's not what we think of him, he thought to himself. He watched as Mikey took the final step, and bolted to the edge of the building, just managing to reach his baby brother's hand.

He watched Mikey look up, watched as Mikey's eyes widened as tears leaked from his baby blue eyes. He pulled Mikey up from the ledge.

Wrapping his arms around him in a hug, Donnie muttered, "Mikey, please don't ever do that, again. We love you, baby bro. You're not a pushover. You're our otōto."

Mikey's eyes squeezed tight as tears spilled from them. He heard the truth in Donnie's words, heard the truth in what he was saying. He was needed. He wasn't a pushover. He was their baby brother. "I-I'm sorry, Don. I-...." Mikey whispered/stuttered. Donnie shook his head and squeezed Mikey closer to him.

Mikey understood now that he was needed, and he didn't need to hide from his brothers. When the two younger brothers returned home, Mikey had told them what he was thinking and feeling, and what he was about to do before Donnie saved him.

Leo and Raph had the saddest faces ever. They rushed over, thus beginning a group hug, filled with tears of sadness, and tears of relief.  Mikey promised to all of them, promised to never do that again. They all continued that day by spending it with each other, not knowing of the events to come in the future.

Six Months Later

It became apparent to Donnie that everything was his fault. He felt that he had failed his brothers. His Turtle-Mech had malfunctioned during the fight with Kraang Prime. He had argued with Leo, which led to Leo having to fight Shredder's top henchmen, and the Shredder himself, ending in Leo getting seriously hurt. Leo had gone into a coma after that.

Donnie took a walk in the woods, having informed his family and friends earlier. But, nobody noticed when a certain orange-masked turtle had followed his immediate older brother, worried about what he might do, having known of the blame Donnie had placed upon himself.

Mikey had followed Don in the trees. Donnie has come to a creek, crouching down and looking at his reflection in the water. Why do I always have to screw everything up, Donnie thought.

He stood up, reaching for his bo-staff.  Pushing the button for his blade, he heard a shing as it popped out. Mikey watched him, eyes narrowed in growing worry. Whatcha doin', bro, Mikey thought.

Realization dawning upon him, Mikey's eyes widened as he jumped out of the tree and snatched the bo-staff from Donnie, just in time.

Donnie was about to plung the blade straight through his heart, but it was quickly grabbed by someone. His head snapped over, and he saw Mikey standing there with wide, understanding eyes. Shame shone in Donnie's eyes. Apparently, Mikey wasn't supposed to see what he was doing.

"Donnie....why?" Mikey whispered, tilting his head. Donnie looked down at the grass beneath his feet. He still remembered Mikey going through what he had, but he doesn't want to seem weak in Mikey's eyes.

"I-I guess I just feel....I don't know, like everything is my fault. Leo wouldn't have had to run off, he wouldn't have been hurt, if I had gone with his idea. And I should have built the Turtle-Mech better, then-...." Mikey cut Donnie off in the middle of his sentence.

(A/N: Not litter-ally! Jeez, you might wanna 'chat' with yourselves so you can purr-fect your minds! Oops! Sorry! Wrong fandom! LOL)

"Donnie, none of this was you're fault. Nobody would have known what would've happened. You can't predict the future, bro. Forget about the past, you can't change what happened. But you can help make the present," Mikey said, smiling. He put a hand on Donnie's shoulder.

Donnie was bewildered. He didn't know Mikey could speak so wise, and with so much truth to it. Not that he's never truthful.

Donnie thought about what Mikey said, and had decided to believe it. They walked back to the farmhouse together, in a silence that was not at all uncomfortable.

Donnie and Mikey grew closer as brothers and closer as friends. Whenever they were sad or bummed, they comforted each other.

The two oldest brothers had realized the growing friendship and brotherhood between the two, and they were happy the two had someone to lean and depend on.

Mikey and Donnie looked at each other and smiled. They realized they would never need to harm themselves as long as they have each other.
