My tummy has been rumbling for a while now and Hudson already made a few jokes.

We stopped at a restaurant and Hudson let me order while he made a call.

He's been gone for quite a while and the waiter just brought our food. He also gave me a napkin with his number on it.

The guy was actually cute but not quite my type. Tall, ginger hair and bright blue eyes.

I was just about to take my first bite of my cheesecake when Hudson came back in with a grimly expression upon his face.

"Don't eat that" he commanded and let himself fall on the chair.

He seemed desperate and worried. It was like his blue eyes lost their glow and his skin was lightly pale.

"Why?" I put the fork back on the plate.

He went through his hair and I could see that his hand was shaking lightly.

I didn't think I would ever see him like that: Anxious.

"It could be poisoned" he stated dryly.

Why would he say that? The other day we ate in that coffe shop and he wasn't worried about our food being poisonous.

"What happened? Who did you talk to?" I asked worried.

He smiled at me. It looked like a real smile and I would believe it if I hadn't just seen the way he acted.

Hudson shook his head "Doesn't matter."

I hit the table with my flat hand so he would look at me.

"We said 'no lies'!" I hissed.

People around us stared at us but as soon as my eyes met theirs they looked away and acted like they talked about something exciting.

He went over his three days' growth of beard and leaned closer to me.

"I just got fired" he whispered strained.

That's not what I expected.

"Oh! That's sad but I'm sure you can find another job" I suggested knowing that I wasn't helping.

Hudson laughed. It was a dry, unconvincing laugher.

He took my hand and twiddled the ring on my finger whilst studying it exactly.

"You don't understand that, Dora. The NSJP doesn't just fire people. Do you really think they would let us go? That we could voluntarily No, if we're not the NSJP anymore, we're with nobody" he said.

"They kill us. That's just how it goes. I disregarded my orders and acted willful. I mean, I technically kidnapped you!" He sighed.

I felt how the worry was slowly boiling up inside of me.

My life had completely changed in the past few days.

My parents turned out to be completely strangers, I've been traveling with some stranger and now we're on the run and probably fair game to some serial killers.

"And what now?" Suddenly I felt totally calm.

I don't know where the inner peace all of the sudden came from. My head was totally empty besides the thought of what to do now.

Hudson leaned back in his chair and pulled my plate away from me.

"I will get you to NewYork, just as planned and then I will figure out some place to stay."

Seriously? Is he actually thinking that I would let him be on his own?

"Whose number is that?" He pointed confused at my napkin.

That's not important! Hudson can't be actually thinking about that right now!

"Hudson, I won't leave you alone. Not after you lost your job because of me!" I started and tried to catch his look but he stared blankly at the napkin in front of me.

He tapped some random beat on the table with his fingers.

"Whose number is that?" He repeated uptight.

Why is he wasting his time thinking about it right now?

I covered my eyes and took a deep breath in "Hudson, did you even listen to me?"

He raised his eyebrow and observed my face.

"Whose number is that?" His voice was dangerously quiet.

He just can't be serious! What does that stupid napkin have to do with us?

I am sitting here and trying to find a solution and all he's thinking about is this goddamn thing!

"Here! Take it. I don't need it" I yelled and threw it in his face.

Filled with anger I got up and stormed out.
