Smack!

You winced as the mortal man that had so foolishly jumped out of the ship slammed face first into the Bifrost, the Fenris Wolf nudging him a few times before continuing to stalk towards the Asgardians.

Suddenly a huge, green beast erupted out of nowhere and caught onto the tail of the Wolf. They tumbled about before plunging into the water below the Bifrost, disappearing underneath the surface.

"That was intense." Brunnhilde snorted.

You raised your eyebrows in agreement.

Ever since she had found you on Sakaar after being convinced she was the only Valkyrie warrior left, Brunnhilde helped you adjust to the life of a bounty hunter.

Capture, sell, drink.
She was big on the drinking part.

Through your work, you were able to meet the Grandmaster's right hand, Loki, and the two of you fell for each other almost immediately. The snarky way he talked to you and tried to make you laugh was something you loved about him. You were the only one who could bring out his soft side and you were amused at the way he talked to anyone else. After a few weeks, Brunnhilde found Thor and after a grueling match that he had gotten absolutely smashed in, he managed to persuade the both of you into helping him fight his sister, Hela. You didn't want to leave without Loki, but there was nothing you could do. He would have to stay out of this one.

The Commodore smashed onto the bridge and Brunnhilde smirked at you before jumping out of the ship.

"Let's kill us a wretched hag."
You smiled and leaped after her, charging into the fray of Hela's soldiers. The both of you sliced through them pretty quickly and came to a stop as the last of them shattered into dust. Dark clouds were gathering overhead as more of the soldiers poured onto the bridge, a never ending stream of the undead.

You gripped your sword tightly.
"I should've brought a drink." You mumbled and she snickered at your little quip.

"Your savior is here!"

You whipped around to match the familiar voice with an equally familiar face.

Loki.

A ramp slammed onto the bridge and he ushered the people into the massive ship he had brought with him. You eyed him as he walked down the ramp and raised his eyebrows at you.

"Miss me, my love?"
"Not very."

He pouted and you laughed, kissing him on the cheek. His emerald eyes gleamed as you pulled away.

"Alright, lovebirds. Let's get this over with. If we live through this, you're buying." Brunnhilde demanded. You opened your mouth to protest when tremendous shards of lightning sliced through the air, hitting the palace. A small figure soared through the sky and, with a loud, crackling noise, landed on the bridge, taking out most of the soldiers.

The three of you waited patiently as Thor took care of the rest of them and he bounded over to your side, clapping a hand on Loki's shoulder.

"You're late."
"You're missing an eye."

"This isn't over."
Brunnhilde strode past them, you on her tail.
"Then, let's finish this." You said.

Thor murmured quietly to Loki and he disappeared as you and Brunnhilde cleaned your swords.

"We can't kill her. We've tried once already." You pointed out.

"We just have to get everyone on board. We'll have to hold her off until then." She said firmly.

Your heart was pounding with fear and you avoided your friend's gaze as she looked at you with concern. After losing so many dear friends to the battle that had driven you into exile, you were more than fearful of the outcome.

Suddenly, Hela touched down on the bridge and rose from her crouch with a sinister smile on her face.

You and Brunnhilde charged with furious cries, swinging your sword around and attacking her with all the strength you could muster. You ducked under her arm and swiped at her waist, but she twisted through the air and kicked you in the chest.
You stumbled back and immediately regained your footing, going to strike at her when suddenly-

"Hela, enough! You want Agsard, it's yours!"

You made the mistake of turning around at the sound of Thor's voice.

Your breath hitched as the blade slid clean between your ribs and you dropped onto your knees, not feeling the impact.

Not feeling anything.
Not hearing anything.

But, you could see.
You could see Brunnhilde screaming with a pained expression.
The white sparks of anger in Thor's eyes.

The world turned on its side as the blade withdrew and you slumped onto the ground. It was as if you had lost your hold on the world, the anchor that kept you so firmly rooted to life, slipping away.

You could feel your breath leaving you and you grasped at Brunnhilde's hand as she fell to her knees beside you, tears sliding down her cheeks.

"Loki..." you said weakly.
She nodded and, with all the strength you had left, you gave her a small smile.

"You'll be buying...after all."

You saw no more.

—————

Thor didn't know how to tell him.
How do you tell your brother that the love of his life...was gone?

He let out a frustrated sigh as Loki entered the room, closing the door quietly behind him.

"Thor? Valkyrie told me Y/N would be in here." He said, the smile slowly leaving his face as he saw the forlorn expression he wore.

"Brother?"

"Loki. I'm so sorry."

Understanding dawned on him and his face paled as Thor gestured to the door that led to a connecting room where your body lay.

"She's-she isn't..she can't-" he trailed off and slowly opened the door, walking into the room. As soon as he caught sight of your lifeless body, he slumped to the floor, not bothering to move as Thor urged him to get up, to go to you.

He didn't want to.

"She can't be. She can't be." He said repeatedly. Silent tears fell from his sad, green eyes as he clutched at Thor's arm, his only support.

He wanted to scream.
To destroy anything he could reach.
But, he couldn't move.

He didn't want to see you without the red blush in your cheeks, your fluttering heartbeat, your beautiful smile. He didn't want to see you any other way than what he wanted you to be.

Alive.
