*ugh, this man is so fine

Bucky swallowed loudly and tried to avoid the mirror as much as possible as he got ready. His heart leapt at the sound of the door opening and he whirled around, coming face to face with Clint.

"Hey. How are you holding up?" He asked.

"I'm good, man. Thanks."
Clint looked at him for a long moment before punching him lightly in the shoulder.

"Everything will be fine, Buck. Just breathe."

Bucky nodded, trying to slow the racing of his heart. His stomach was a mess of jumbled emotions and he didn't know which one to feel. Which one was appropriate for such an important day?

"I-I don't know. I don't know if I can, Clint." Bucky blurted.
He wrung his hands tightly and the strain of fabric across his chest forced him to relax. Clint picked up his tux jacket and held it up for Bucky to slide into. With trembling arms and help from Clint, he managed to put it on.

"Now, look. I know you're nervous. But, you're going to go up there and in a flash, everything will be over with. You can do this."

Bucky let out a shaky breath as he looked at himself in the full-length mirror. The tuxedo he wore was perfectly fit for him and combined with his dashing good looks and hair, he was a sight for sore eyes.

"I can do this." He said to himself.
Clint nodded encouragingly.

"You can do this, buddy. Now, come on. Steve's already waiting and we got a wedding we can't miss."

Bucky took his place near the altar, his eyes trained on the doors that you were about to walk through at any second. There was a small amount of people, nothing big or grand.

Just the way you wanted it.

His breath hitched in his throat as the organ began to play the familiar wedding song and the doors slowly opened. The congregation rose to their feet as your sister made her way up the aisle, Wanda and Natasha a few feet behind her. They looked absolutely beautiful wrapped in dusty rose gowns that were complemented by the ring of pale pink flowers atop their heads.
As they took their places, Nat and Wanda gave little smiles to Pietro and Clint. The volume of the organ increased and the shuffle of the congregation made their impatience to see the lovely bride known.

And then, there you were.

In a stunningly gorgeous wedding dress with lace sleeves that wrapped up your delicate arms and across your shoulders, you began the painstakingly slow march down the aisle with Bruce on your arm.

The first steps.

Bucky knew how much he loved you. How much he would cherish and appreciate you for all eternity.

A few more steps.

He'd savor every moment with you. From waking up to the peaceful sight of you sleeping to laughing with you until he couldn't breathe.

Closer.

Bucky would never hurt you. Just the thought would make him queasy. He'd take care of you, provide for you, protect you with his very life.

Closer.

He would be your rock, the only one you'd ever need for comfort and support. He would go to the ends of the earth, travel the Seven Seas if needed to make you happy.

Finally.

And Bucky wanted you to be happy. More than anything.

Even if it meant watching as you took the hand of his best friend and gave him the smile that he had come to love.

Hearing the promises Steve spoke aloud that he had already made to you.

Enduring the pain of fresh, new heartbreak as you two shared a passionate kiss, one he'd dreamt of sharing with you the moment he met you.

But, there was nothing he could do afterwards as Clint and Tony gave him a pained look, Natasha squeezed his arm comfortingly, Wanda bowed her head as she felt his grief. He congratulated Steve warmly before turning away and feeling the smile slip from his face.

There was nothing he could do as you sauntered up to him and threw your arms around him, knocking him off balance.
Nothing he could do but hold you for as long as he could in that moment.

"I love you, Bucky. Don't you ever forget that." You said softly, pulling back to give him a smile.

"...I love you, too, doll. Always have, always will."
You kissed him on the cheek before being pulled away by your sister to take some photos.

There was nothing he could do.
Bucky just wanted you to be happy.
That's all he ever wanted.

And he got it.
Just, not in the way he was expecting.
Because in truth, it's tough to love a doll that's not your own...a doll that never was in the first place.

I don't why I'm like this. :')

Yet another old song: Paper Doll by The Mills Brothers. And you guys are probably like, "why tf is she always using these songs for inspiration?" For that, I totally apologize (^~^) But in all honesty, I love using old songs and creating a story around them.

So, I hope you liked it! Love you all!
