"Remus!"
That shattering scream tore through the night.
Remus Lupin turned, heart pounding.
And there she stood, hair as wild as the first day he laid eyes on her. Same eyes, same lips. Same her.
And as death hit him, he thought of his friends.
James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew.
His heart wrenched at the thought of Peter. They had all made mistakes, but Peter had ripped all the threads that held the Marauders together.
But Remus wasn't really leaving, he thought as life seeped out of him.
He was going home.
And as his eyes fluttered close and a gentle hand took his in hers, he gave Nymphadora Tonks one last kiss in his mind.
And then he was homebound, to his friends and family that left him too early.
