Floating, in a pit of darkness. I can't move or speak or even blink. I don't want to. Fear fills my mind, I'm paralyzed. A voice ever so soft, gentle even, like the way my mom used to talk to me as a little girl when she would tuck me into bed and sing 'In the Meadow' to me to help me fall asleep, the peaceful tone of the voice fills my ears. An echoing sound of a woman calls my name. Repeatedly.
"Who's there?" I question. "Get me out of here! Please."
"Find Dimitri." The voice says croaking.
"I'm sorry I have no idea who that is...I can't help you?" I exclaim. But the voice keeps repeating. "Find Dimitri." I yell out for help, but it seems like no one can hear me. A dark pit fills my stomach as I close my eyes and I'm more scared than ever.
"Open your eyes." A hollow voice calls out.
"No, leave me alone." I cry out.
"Open your eyes!" I suddenly feel the urge to look, I bat my eyelids and gaze my vision to see a thousand, maybe a million white cloudy souls that surround me. Circling me like I'm their prey. I clench my body tight, hoping they would go away.
"Alison." A raspy whisper calls. I continue to clench my body tight, trying not to move a muscle.
"Alison." The whisper continues. "It has to be you. You're the only one that can wake him." I slowly relax my body and question the whisper in confusion.
"What do you mean?" Who can I awaken?"
"Dimitri." The hollow whispers say in unison.
"But who is Dimitri?"
"Look and you will see." I look at them in confusion and soon enough a colourful prism of light shines in front of me and an echoing voice speaks.
"Long ago, when the heavens shone before us. Each supernatural being lived in unity. All within their own land. But one Demi god named Michaiah, the son of Ares wasn't too happy with this arrangement. He believed he should be ruler of all. He didn't believe in unity or peace. He only knew war. Each of the five clans refused to appoint him as their leader. Hence, this made Michaiah angry. For years he sought out destruction against them. He slaughtered young children, mothers, fathers, and friends as well as burned villages and homes to the ground. Michaiah invoked fear in all supernatural beings. All five clans were terrified of him. They tried to run and hide, but they weren't able to get far before he found them. The clans then formed riots and ravaged the earth in anger from loss and pain. Soon enough the warlock clan sought out to destroy Michaiah once and for all. One day when he was up in the mountains of Alfeta, a warlock named Bartholomew gathered his clan to head up the mountain, carrying gargoyle fire bombs and iron blades. It was a long and tedious hike. But once they arrived at the top they found Michaiah meditating with his back toward them. Bartholomew was not afraid, he stood his ground and demanded for Michaiah to look at him. Although, he had no idea what was in store for him and his clan. Michaiah rose to his feet at the sound of his voice and turned to face him. He gave Bartholomew a smirk and was ready to attack. Bartholomew signalled his clan to fight and at will they charged toward Michaiah. They threw beams of warlock spells and spheres of fire at him, but he dodged it away like it was nothing. Michaiah crouched to the ground and placed his palms against the cold dirt that lay upon the mountain and he used the energy force from his palms to rumble the ground of Alfeta. Evergreen vines rose up from the ground and hovered over Michaiah head. They remained still, swaying against the wind. When he gave the signal the vines charged quickly toward the warlocks and wrapped its branches around their throats, choking them. Their faces became red as the oxygen left their lungs, leaving their body lifeless. After stumbling to the ground to avoid the poisonous vines Bartholomew rose to his feet and was in shock as he witnessed the demise of his people. When he believed he was at loss he told the remaining soldiers to stand down. Bartholomew's second in command, Dimitri demanded that Bartholomew mustn't fight Michaiah alone, as he feared of his death. But he assured Dimitri that their fight is over, that they shouldn't fight a war they can't win. Bartholomew may have been an irrational leader, but he was with no doubt honourable. Dimitri looked at Bartholomew with reassurance, hoping he wouldn't act upon his anger. But Bartholomew only wanted to protect his people and told Dimitri to take them home. He, then approached Michaiah with immense rage and they faced down in a brutal fight. Michaiah shot a fire ball at Bartholomew, but he dogged it and used his steel shield to deflect the flame. Bartholomew then charged at Michaiah with his sword grasped above his head, while Michaiah stood in front of him with his chest barred, standing his ground. Bartholomew then struck him in his chest with an iron blade coated in hell hound poison. Michaiah fell hard, clenching his chest while yelping in agony as his burning blood spewed out of him. Bartholomew, panting in exhaustion as sweat droplets fell from his face walked toward him saying 'you will never be my leader.' Just as he turned his back to Michaiah, thinking he had already won, Michaiah got up from the ground and drove his fist right through Bartholomew's chest. He stood frozen with blood oozing from his mouth as his knees dropped to the ground. His clan watched his tragic fall with fear and sorrow, but just before he fell he cast a spell to send his people back to their land so that they don't get harmed by Michaiah. Then Michaiah disappeared immediately from the mountain, leaving Bartholomew laying lifeless on Alfeta. A few days after the death of Bartholomew all the clans came together to devise a last resorted plan to vanquish Michaiah. They conspired in their villages. Each member of each clan met in the Greon Forest. They gathered around a spherical, white pine hollow table that appeared as a compass. Pointing toward North, West, East, and South with a red and black arrow mark. The clans' leaders held hands at the table while they chanted in Latin, 'necessitudines inter mundos, fiat caelum et clamate' which means 'ties between worlds, let the heavens cry out.' The leaders begged the God's above to help them defeat Michaiah. They chanted for an hour and still, no response from the heavens. In that moment when hope was lost. Dimitri walked toward the table and told the clans that they would have to trap Michaiah in an endless and tortuous realm with no means of escape. The realm was called the realm of nothingness, where life and all other creation do not exist. But the only way that they would be able to send Michaiah there is if they drew a pentagram of the five corners of the world, with the help of the warlocks. The clans agreed to this plan and started working on drawing the pentagram in the forest. The warlocks used sand grains to draw the outline of the pentagram. Then they lit the outline on fire to create the heavenly flame. The fire bursted out of the pentagram in blinding colours of red-orange. It reached the highest point in the sky and fell back down to earth, drawing out the five corners of the world. Before the last corner hit the earth, Michaiah suddenly appeared. He stood facing the clans, getting ready to attack, but Dimitri used a spell to cast a barrier around them. Michaiah tried everything to break the barrier, but through every spell he tried he couldn't even dent it. Dimitri knew that the only way he could send Michaiah to the realm of nothingness was if he tied his life to his so that he is able to remain in the realm without any way of escaping. But, tying their life together would put Dimitri in a deep sleep for eternity. Both Dimitri and Michaiah's mind would forever be linked. But Dimitri knew it was the only way to stop Michaiah once and for all. He struggled to hold the barrier up, but he wasn't strong enough and Michaiah eventually broke the barrier. Just as Michaiah was about to use his magic on Dimitri, Dimitri chanted a spell that tied his life to Michaiah's. The warlock clan, knew what the spell was when they heard the words he chanted and cried out for Dimitri. Dimitri then allowed the last corner to hit the ground and as it did a black hole opened causing Michaiah to get sucked through, forever. Just as Michaiah went through the black hole Dimitri dropped to the ground and immediately fell into a deep sleep. A few days later, the clans took Dimitri's body to a tomb near the Himalayas. They laid his body in a casket and sealed the casket with strong dark magic so it can't be opened, because they knew that as long as Dimitri lay in a deep sleep, Michaiah would be trapped for eternity. But what the clans did not know was that the type of magic that was used to link Dimitri and Michaiah together was a different type of black magic, one that comes with a price. As long as Michaiah remains in the realm of nothingness each clan will remain as forgotten souls.
"So your telling me that all of you were members of each of the clans?" I question.
"Yes. We were left here in this black lake of death forever." The soft voice exclaims.
"So how do you think I can help you?"
"You must find Dimitri's body and you must wake him. He is the only one that can set us free."
"You are asking me to wake a thousand and something year old warlock, No way."
"You can either help us or you will remain trapped in the lake as well."
"But from what you said Dimitri's life is tied to Michaiah. If I wake him wouldn't the most dangerous Demi god be set free. Why would I release him from his own personal hell?"
"Dimitri will know how to stop Michaiah. We won't allow him to roam this earth. Dimitri created this spell with dark magic, he is the only one that can break the curse set for us, because if he can't we will remain prisoners in this lake."
"...Why did you choose me to help you, I'm only human I can't do much and I don't have any special powers." I exclaim.
"Oh, but you can Alison. You are much stronger than you think. There is something within you, something that all supernatural beings hunting you, fear."
"I don't understand. What do you mean?"
"You will find out in time."
