"Just like a moth drawn to a flame
Oh you lured me in
I couldn't sense the pain"

That night, I sat at home in leggings and a gray sweatshirt, binge watching Supernatural.

Luke was at a baseball game, and Ben was out with his new girlfriend, or as he says " girl (unnecessarily long pause) friend", so I was all alone.

And naturally, I took comfort in demons, and psychopaths.

My stomach grumbled, and I groaned, knowing there was nothing to relieve my hunger. It was the middle of the week, so we had run out of food, and wouldn't go grocery shopping for 2 days.

Plus, even if we did have food, I probably wouldn't want it. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, but I was seriously craving some Tim Horton's.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang throughout the house, and I paused the TV, rolling off the couch to answer it.

As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by the face of my best friend.

He smiled brightly at me, which has been a rare thing these days, and I was happy to see his smile again, especially since it wasn't covered by his metal braces.

"Hey, Shawny Boy."I couldn't help but smiled widely back at him.

"H-Hey, Luce." His bright grin turned into a nervous smile, and he stumbled over his words, which he never did before with me. I mean, at first, yeah. But we've known each other for so long, it's become easy being around each other.

So why is he suddenly nervous around me now?

"Um, are you busy right now?" He bit his bottom lip, and fiddled with his fingers.

"Oh, yeah." I scoffed, joking around with him to try and lighten the mood."I'm in the middle of a hot date with Sam and Dean."

He laughed, rolling his eyes, and shaking his head at my sarcasm.

"I'm pretty sure Castiel's coming soon, though. I think in about... a season and a half?"

"Well, tell them you'll have to rain check, because I'm taking you somewhere."

"Really? My only day home alone, and you have to ruin it? Mendes, always a pain in my ass." I laughed, pulling him inside, by his arm.

"Man, you were settling in for a night, huh?" He asked, looking around at the living room, the couch covered in blankets, bags of chips, and tissue boxes lying on the coffee table in front of where I sat two minutes before.

"Yeah. I was. And then you ruined it."I laughed, letting him know I was joking, because the exact opposite was true. He made everything better."Just stay here, I'll go change, and then we'll go, okay?"

He nodded, plopping down on the couch, while I went up the stairs to my room, and consulted my closet.

I finally decided to go with a sleeveless white lace top, with a beige/off-white skirt. I touched up my makeup from the school day, and curled my hair. I finished it off with a small brown belt, some gold bracelets, and sleek gold heels, grabbing the essentials, and stuffing them in a gold and beige purse.

I made my way downstairs, and grabbed Shawn's hand, pulling him off the couch, and out the door, not before grabbing my keys, locking the door behind me, letting Shawn lead the way.

$&£

After we had gotten seated at our normal booth, Shawn had over excitedly went to get us something from the counter.

My eyebrows shot up when I saw what he brought back.

"Ice Cap? What's the occasion?"

My favorite thing ever from here was the Ice Cap Supreme, and we only got them on special occasions.

If we're celebrating an accomplishment, or a birthday. Maybe he'll get me one if I'm really sad and down.

"Um, I need to tell you something." His eyes held so much honesty and sincerity a wave of guilt hit me.

"Me too." I found myself saying.

What?!

Why did I say that?

"Oh." His eyes widened, as I savoured a sip of my drink.

"You first." He said, and I started to panic.

This was it.

I'm telling him.

"I'm going to the formal with Tyler."

His smile faltered, and I immediately felt my guilt deepen.

"What?"

"I know. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, he just asked out of nowhere-"

"Wait-"

"-and I know how you feel about him, so I just... didn't tell you." I finished, my heart pounding, and I hung my head in shame.

Several seconds passed before he sighed.

"Lucy." As soon as he said my full name, my eyes filled with tears.

This was it.

These past few days, I pushed the limits of our friendship. And now I've gone too far. I had broken the one rule of our friendship:

No secrets.

I've broken us, and now it's done.

He's going to leave me, and I'll be all alone.

"Lu, look at me."

And even though I'm supposed to hate my old nickname now, I couldn't help but let a small smile creep on to my face.

I lifted my head, and looked at him.

"I just needed to see your eyes." He smiled.

"They're not my eyes." I said, a hint of bitterness to my voice, and I don't know why.

"Yes, they are. They're a different color now, but they're still your eyes. Your hair is a different color, and your clothes are different, but you're still you. And you may have a crush a complete tool, but you're still you. And I'm still me, your best friend. And I'm happy for you."

"Really?" I couldn't believe it. He's not going anywhere.

"Of course. I love you, Luce." He grabbed my hand across the table, and squeezed it comfortingly.

"I love you, too, Shawn."

Guys, I did my mf research on this. I have no idea how Tim Hortons works bc I'm not Canadian, but it's fine. Btw I've seen it spelled "Ice Cap" and 'Iced Capp" so I'm not sure which is right. I just got the one I used off of the Tim Hortons website, so if you're from Canada help pls.
