S I X T E E N

Valerie:

I looked around the big forest surrounding us. Chad and I were driving down the cleared path. It had been a nice drive. Chad making cheesy jokes and cheeky remarks.

I wasn't looking forward to this trip. I was actually scared and awkward. But I had a mission to let Noah go and give Chad a chance. If I ever wanted to be happy again

We had fallen into silence as I was being invaded with my thoughts. Every day that passed, the wedding was closer. We were barely 6 weeks away from it.

Shit

Happy thoughts, Valerie, happy thoughts.

“isn't this whole landscape beautiful?” Chad said taking me out of my trance and I hummed softly

“yeah… it is so beautiful and chilly also, can't wait to cuddle the shit out of you”

He chuckles and places his hand on my thigh as he kept driving. I bit my lip looking down at it. My life had changed too much in these past weeks, I was basically stuck for 3 years until I opened the gallery and now I had so much shit going on.

The forest cleared out and a huge mansion came on display, my mouth fell open and I looked at him surprised

“you said it was a cabin?” I whispered still processing everything and he chuckled charmingly

“I said cottage, and I said it was huge”

“yeah  but not This huge”

“you like it huge…” he smirks and I laugh for awhile, then I lean down and peck his lips

He parked in front of the house  where everyone else's car was and then he got out quickly going to open the door for me.

A beautiful redhead opened the door and opened her arms

“Chad, darling, I'm so glad you made it” Chad walked to her and gave her a brief hug, I was standing there awkwardly with my backpack swinging on my shoulder.

“who is the lovely lady?” she asked looking at me and he wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed my cheek cutely

“she's Valerie, my girlfriend” he said proudly and the redhead held out her hand for me to shake, I did and she smiled.

“nice to meet you, Valerie” she shook my hand and I nodded “I'm Melanie” she said softly

“nice to meet you too” I reply with a smile and then we decide to walk inside, Chad's hand still wrapped around my waist.

We walk inside the house and we leave our bags in our designated room. After refreshing a bit in the bathroom I walk out and I see Chad laying on bed smiling cutely at me

“so everyone is down there making a barbecue, but I kinda want to get those cuddles you promised me earlier” he smirked and I laughed laying next to him. I draped my leg over his body and my arm and then I kissed his cheek

“just for awhile, because I'm starving” I say in his ear and close my eyes slightly, relaxing my body.

“Yeah, Just like.. 15 minutes” He is laying on his back, and i’m hugging him

Apparently i was more tired from the road trip than hungry, because i opened my eyes and everything around us was dark.

Chad was very tired from driving all those hours and i guess i was tired of worrying too much about Tara's and Noah's wedding.

I look at Chad's sleeping face. He is really handsome, I don't really have a single complaint about him. He's been incredibly sweet and thoughtful.

I shamelessly start tracing my finger in the outline of his face, slowly through his eyebrows and his lips. He hums softly and his tired eyes flutter open slowly

“hey you” he says with a husky groogy voice. I giggle softly and peck his lips

“hey sleeping beauty” I said to him and he rolls his eyes playfully wrapping an arm around me

“what time is it?” he asks softly and I only shrug, my phone is not really close to check the time

“I don't know but it already got dark” I say softly and he nodded “I hope they saved us some of that food from the barbecue because I'm starving”

He chuckles and shakes his head “you like food more than you like me” he laughs again and we're now laying on our sides facing each other

“sweetie, I love food more than I love anyone in this world” I remark and he laughs kissing my forehead

He yawns and stretches and sits up in bed “then let's go downstairs to fill your heart… And stomach with love” he says cutely smiling at me and I nod sitting as well in the bed and putting on my shoes.

This lake house was so big, I can't believe they even rented this, we were 5 couples, so it had at least 5 rooms, deck, barbecue, it was huge.

I was dreading the moment I was going to see Noah. Trying to function around him was my biggest task, I would stutter, become cute, distracted, dumb. I felt so weird, like I was hiding something. Well, I was, I was hiding my feelings, but in the worst possible way.

A/n: sorry for posting this so late today, I was traveling the whole day, I start my internship on Monday, it's been a stressful week :(
