Johns Pov

I came up behind Alex and startled him, by putting my hands on his shoulders.

"Hey! So you decided to sign up for something?" I asked him.

"Uh... No. You?" He replied.

"No. Um... why are you hiding behind a mop? Your friends don't know you're here, right?" I said laughing at him.

"Right," he laughed at himself.

I looked over towards the stage. Eliza played the intro to the song, but the singer was overcome with stage fright and just froze.

"Thank you. Next," Mr. George said harshly. The singer ran off the stage with shame.

"Um.. Mr George is a little... harsh," Alex spoke.

"The Wildcat superstar's afraid?" I teased him, nudging him in the chest with my elbow.

"No! No, I'm not afraid, I... I'm just... scared," He replied quickly.

"Me too... usually," I said looking down at my feet.

"And for the lead roles of Arnold and Minnie we only have one couple signed up," Alex and I both hid behind the cart, "Thomas and James. I think it might be useful for you to give us a sense of why we gather in this hallowed hall," Mr. George said. As they stepped up onto the stage, Thomas stopped James so he could go first. James rolled his eyes, while Alex and I took seats in the back of the auditorium.

"What key?" Eliza asked James.

"Oh, we had our rehearsal pianist do an arrangement," James told her.

"Oh," Eliza said in defeat.

I watched as Thomas snapped his fingers and the curtain closed. As their pre-show warmup, they both whined like horses. I inwardly rolled my eyes at Thomas. James was ok.

"Go!" I heard a sassy Thomas scream at their pianist.

Thomas James Both

It's hard to believe that I couldn't see
You were always there beside me
Thought I was alone, with no one to hold
But you were always right beside me
This feeling's like no other
I want you to know

I've never had someone that knows me like you do
The way you do
I've never had someone as good for me as you
No one like you
So lonely before I finally found what I've been looking for

So good to be seen, so good to be heard
Don't have to say a word
For so long I was lost, so good to be found
I'm loving having you around
This feeling's like no other
I want you to know

I've never had someone that knows me like you do
The way you do
I've never had someone as good for me as you
No one like you
So lonely before I finally found what I've been looking for

Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do, wo-o-o-oah
Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do-do, wo-o-o-oah

"I told you not to do the jazz squares," Thomas told James, as the song ended.

"It's a crowd favorite. Everyone loves a good jazz square," James defended.

Thomas glared at Eliza, who immediately put on a fake smile and started clapping. The rest of the small audience applauded them, excluding Alex and I.

"Well.. Are there any last minute sign-ups?" Mr. George asked, as me and Alex sunk lower into our seats.

"Don't be discouraged. The theater club needs more than just singers. It needs fans too. Buy tickets!" James told everyone.
