REGULAR POV

"(Y/N)!" I heard a voice shout. I instantly shot straight up, alarmed.

"What?!" I asked, rubbing my eyes to clear the sleep from them and revealing an amused looking Jeff.

"We're leaving." he said, turning to walk away.

"Wait!" I called, trying to wake up more. But he ignored me and continued walking away.

I muttered an aggravated curse under my breath before jogging up beside him.

I touched my neck where the collar used to be. It stung slightly where it was raw. I winced.

"Thanks for getting the collar off." I said reluctantly.

"Hmph.." was all he responded with. I rolled my eyes but didn't say anything else.

We walked in silence for awhile, the crunching of leaves the only noise that could be heard.

Why does he hate me so much? I wondered, glancing at Jeff. I didn't understand what I had ever done to him. I sighed, a little frustrated. He was so unpredictable and it drove me insane.

"Stop," Jeff said abruptly, his arm shooting out in front of me. I instantly froze.

"What?" I whispered, looking around as my nerves worked up. If Jeff was nervous, something was up.

"Shut up!" he whisper yelled back.

    Geez, okay. I thought.

I sealed my lips shut and waited silently, staying alert. I couldn't see anything strange, though.

He's probably just overreacting. I assured myself.

Out of nowhere, a huge beast charged forward. I yelled out and immediately shifted without even thinking. My heart jolted in my chest, and from the corner of my eye I saw Jeff dive out of the way.

But I didn't move fast enough.

I grunted in pain as something huge rammed into me and pinned me against a tree. It roared in my face, saliva spraying in my eyes. It was a bear. Oh how I hated bears!

It threw me onto the ground, weighing me down. I snarled, biting down on its lashing paws. It growled angrily and pummeled my stomach with it's hind legs, practically shredding me to pieces.

Jeff instantly attacked, leaping into the air and landing on the bears back and dragging his knife down its spine with psychotic chuckles.

It bellowed in pain, pausing to try and swipe at Jeff on its back. But Jeff was too fast and jumped off before it had a chance, dragging his blade down its back.

I decided to thank Jeff later.

I twisted over, avoiding snapping jaws and latching my fangs into its shoulder. I dragged my claws down it's fur, blood spurting everywhere.

I tore at its flanks as it gnashed it's fangs. I yelped in pain as it snapped its jaws onto my paw. We tussled for awhile, snarls and claws the only thing I could see and hear. Jeff would jump in every time I started losing the advantage.

I started getting dizzy as loads of blood scent clouded my senses. My vision started to blot out, and my breathing got heavier.

No, no! Not again! I can't lose control. I struggled to keep sane, but after a minute I couldn't hold it in anymore.

Everything went black, and all I could do was sit in the shadows of my mind as my wolf did whatever it wanted.

"Can I at least see what's going on?" I pleaded.

    It's okay, I'm protecting you.

"Please! Just let me see what's happening." I pressed, desperate.

      Let me handle this.

"No, let me handle this." I snapped.

Blood means danger. Danger means I need to protect you.

"But YOU could be putting me in danger!" I countered.

It's okay, don't be scared. I'm protecting you.

It was no use. I was bargaining with a spirit for gods sake. Maybe I was going insane. I wondered what I was doing on the outside, but I assumed I was on a rampage.

Then, as I was giving up, I felt a slice across my snout.

We don't have time for this, (Y/N)! Snap out of it *sshole.

Jeff's voice echoed through my head. My snout stung, but then another blow hit me across the cheek.

Little by little, my senses started returning as Jeff hissed for me to snap out of it and slashed me with his knife.

My vision started returning very slowly, the voice of my spirit fading out. I blinked a couple of times, my breathing shallow.

I was in a defensive position, my lips curled in a silent snarl. Jeff's knife was directed at me, and let me tell you, he looked pissed off. Blood was everywhere, and the bear's throat was ripped out.

I shuddered and quickly shifted back into a human before I lost it again.

"You need to get yourself under control!" Jeff fumed, dropping his arm by his side. Were we seriously about to argue over this?

"It's not my fault a bear charged at us!" I retorted. What was this guys problem?

"Yeah, well it is your fault that your stupid wolf lost its sh*t!" he countered, glaring at me.

"You are so f****ing-" I began, but I didn't get to finish my sentence. He lashed out before I could insult him, slashing me across the shoulder. I hissed through gritted teeth, clasping my arm in pain.

"You *sshole!" I yelled, storming away into the direction we were originally walking.

I heard Jeff growl from behind me before catching up and taking the lead again.

We didn't speak. I'm pretty sure we were both too angry to say anything without cursing.

I tore off a strip of my already mutilated clothing and wrapped it around the wound on my shoulder. I wanted to kill him! I glared at him from behind. He blamed me for everything, got mad at me for no reason, it drove me crazy!

We walked for hours in complete silence. But the atmosphere between us was still intense. It was getting darker by the minute, and I was starting to get tired.

"Can we stop please?" I asked. My legs were aching.

"No." Jeff huffed, not even turning to look at me.

"We can walk more in the morning!" I snorted, leaning against a tree.

He ignored me and continued walking. I stormed right up next to him.

"Listen, I know you're mad, but that's not a reason to keep us from resting." I said desperately.

"No, you listen to me," he turned and stared at me dead in the eyes, "I'm in charge. We keep on walking until I say we stop. Now quit complaining!"

I bit my tongue to prevent yelling in his face. I didn't want another cut.

Will we ever get along? I thought bitterly.
