"Congratulations on the art scholarship" Harry broke the silence we sat in. He was packing a duffle bag when he said that. "Thanks" I answered. "Congratulations on winning tonight's fight" somehow I felt obligated to say that - as to even things out. "Thanks" He mumbled, zipping up the duffle bag. I kept still on the couch I was sitting on, afraid to make a move.
"What's your problem with Luke?" I blurted the one question that had been swirling around in my mind ever since our encounter in the parking lot. "Nothing" Harry clenched his jaw and I watched his knuckles turn white from tightly twisting the strap of his duffle bag in his hand. "Why did you tell me to stay away from him?" I continued.
"Drop it, Addy" He groaned, "I need to know, Harry. Luke is my friend and you don't have the right to order me around" I stood up from my seat, raising my voice a few octaves. "Luke is not your friend" Harry bellowed "He is. Well at least, he's much better than you" I retorted "Oh, so you want to be my friend?" He crossed his arms and I shook my head "I didn't say that. He isn't rude to me like you are"
The accusation in my words made Harry raise an eyebrow at me and take a step forward but I kept my ground. "You wanna say that again, love" He challenged and I swallowed hard. A smirk stretched across his face as his eyes poured into mine. "Go on, Adeline" Harry said, his voice a mere whisper - low yet chilling. Finding my own voice, I spoke "He isn't rude to me like you are. You think you're all that, when you're not"
His smirk broadened further, green eyes lighting up as I repeated my words, adding a few more. Moving away from him, I took determined steps towards the door when a tug on my hand sent me stumbling backwards. My back met Harry's front and his hands wrapped around me, holding onto my own - trapping me in his arms. "You think you've felt the hardships of life, Adeline, but you didn't even get a wiff of it as yet" Harry's lips ghosted over the shell of my ear, his voice dark and cold.
"Your judgement of people is honestly just embarassing. The same thing happened with Jason, right?" I sucked in a breath hearing that, my eyes widened to the size of saucers "Wondering how I know?" He chuckled darkly "I know everything about you" My breathing quickened with each word said and my mind formed this haze that I couldn't quite clear. Stalker much.
"You know nothing about me!" I retorted and he snickered "I know enough. You're a prissy little brat that always wants her way" He pointed and I clenched my jaw hearing those baseless accusations "Wrong! I'm not like that" he rolled his eyes "Oh and you like throwing tantrums" He leaned forward "You're not what you show others, Jones. You like being treated like a porcelain doll, fragile and pretty but too bad reality is a cold hearted bitch" He went on and I felt my body heat up.
"No wonder Jason dumped your ass. He probably realized that you're not worth wasting a perfectly good condom again" My anger got the better of me and I jerked my arm back as my hand formed a fist. His words cut through me like a knife through butter. "Now now, little Jones. Do you really think you can do that?" He stopped my hand in mid air before backing me up against the wall, his body pressed to mine.
I whimpered at the contact, I'm sure my back is going to have a bruise. Harry's low voice reached my ears and my breathing quickened. I watched his eyes move from mine to my heaving chest and back up to mine "You're not that bad, actually" He smirked and I exhaled heavily through my nose, I felt violated as his green orbs raked my entire frame.
The memories of the night in the bathroom flooded my mind and I cringed at my actions. "You're in perfect proportion" His hand rested my waist, bringing me closer to him and I squeaked in response. His lips were mere centimetres away from mine, I was about to say something when the opening of the door broke us apart.
I took in deep breaths, Harry sprung to his corner of the room where his duffel bag sat and I leaned against the wall in relief. "Harry, you're needed" My father ordered the green eyed boy from across me. He glanced over in my direction and I passed him a small reassuring smile, Harry nodded and followed my father out the room.
"You can come too, sweetheart. We're going to leave anyway" He gestured and I stepped out the door. "How did you like the fight?" Dad questioned, wrapping an arm around my shoulders "It was exhilarating" I smiled genuinely, it truly was. "Your finest work" I praised and Dad chuckled "Thank you, sweetheart" He kissed my temple and we continued walking until we came to a stop.
Flashes surrounded us and I blinked my eyes profusely as the light burned my cornea. My father left my side to join Harry as they both spoke to the people holding cameras and microphones, I just stood close by. I wasn't watching where I was standing as my head was kept down from being blinded by the multiple flashes.
"Woah" I let out a yelp when my hand was grabbed onto, jerking me forward "I'm not going to be there every time you need saving, Adeline" Harry whispered to me, his large hand surrounded mine and I looked back to have found a crowd of people passing by - if he hadn't pulled me I would have been crushed like a bug.
"It's Addy and I don't need your help" I yanked my hand away from his, glancing over to my father to find him still engrossed in whatever the reporter had to say. The crowd of people had actually been fans who were then escorted by Harry's bodyguards. "Ready to go, princess?" I turned to my father and nodded meekly, immediately cringing at the nickname. Harry snickered from next to me and I held back from elbowing him in the gut.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Harry" Dad told the curly haired boy. We parted ways and I let out the, unbeknownst to me, breath I was holding as my father and I walked to his car. "I'd like for you to attend the rest of the upcoming matches" I nearly choke when I heard him say that "What?" Dad nodded, he began driving us back to the the dormitory. I took note of the time and sighed, it's a good thing it's Sunday tomorrow so I can sleep in.
"You heard me. I don't think you noticed how you were cheering Harry on and frankly, I enjoyed having you here" Dad smiled at me, his words surprised me as I then realised I was, in fact, cheering Harry on. "It felt good having support tonight" He continued, Mom doesn't like to attend because she's fragile. She starts to feel bad for the opponent - who we're meant to hate. Having my father say that made me agree to attend every match from now onward.
Minutes later, I was back in the dormitory. I opened my room door and a scream left my lips at the sight before me, I immediately closed the door and calmed my breathing. "Come in" I heard Carter shout before blocking my eyes with my hand, shuffling through the door "Is Ethan's ass covered?" I heard her laugh "Yes it is, we didn't think you'd be back so soon" I peeked through my fingers before dropping my hand.
"It's past midnight, what time did you think I'd be back?" I passed her a weird look before gathering my clothing for a shower "Tomorrow morning" Ethan shrugged "Maybe you would have spent the night with a certain Styles" He suggested and I scoffed yet my heart thumped remembering how close proximity in the changing room. "Yeah, right" with that said, I headed to the bathroom and had a shower.
