Chapter 39: Sexy Back

Sarah’s POV

 

I understand the point of Matt actually... We’re a couple and everybody knows that already, so why can’t I be her date on the ball?

I speak with Mommy the next morning to discuss this matter and she told me the real reason why they can’t let me go.

Mommy D: ‘Nak, nagbilin kasi talaga si Boss Vic na hindi pwede dahil nga party yun ng ibang artist agency.

Sarah: Bakit hindi niyo po agad sa’kin sinabi My? Pwede naman siguro pakiusapan. Kung career yung iniisip nila, mas malaking issue kung hindi po ako pupunta...

Mommy D: ‘Nak... Sige, maigi nang kayo na lang din ang magkausap. May point si Boss Vis sa totoo lang.

Sarah: Lalambingin ko lang po si Boss, My... Pagbibigyan ako niyan (abot-ngiti ko pang sabi).

 

Nakipag-set agad ako ng appointment kay Boss Vic kinabukasan. Kasama ko si Mommy sa meeting.

Boss Vic: Anong sadya ng prinsesa ko?

Sarah: Boss... Kung pwede po sana akong um-attend ng Star Magic Ball with Matt?

Biglang nagseryoso ang mukha nito at tumingin kay Mommy.

Boss Vic: Mommy... Akala ko okay na tayo sa usaping ‘to?

Mommy D: Nangungulit po kasi ang bata... Kaya sinabi ko, kayo na lang mag-usap.

Sarah: Boss... Alam na naman po nang lahat yun sa amin ni---

Boss Vic: It’s not about that, okay... You can’t go. And I’m sure you’re eager to know what the reason is. It’s purely business...

We’re co-producing with Star Cinema, yes... But Star Magic, though one of ABS’ affiliate, is still a competitor, Sarah. In the business of artists’ agency, they’re our tightest competition.

That ‘Star Magic Ball’ is part of their agency’s strategy. They’re showcasing their talents on that night and most importantly they’re showing ‘business empowerment’. And I will not allow my brightest star to lit the night for them. It’s a business suicide for me Sarah, I hope you’ll understand.

 

I just nodded in agreement to what Boss said.

Boss Vic: I hope your boyfriend will also understand, he’s seems a good guy, huh?! (Sabay kiliti sa akin nito)

Sarah: Boss talaga...

Boss Vic: Mommy... Dalaga na ang prinsesa natin. Wala na tayong magagawa, haha! Basta, magtatampo ako kapag hindi mo ako kinuhang Ninong.

Pulang-pula ako sa pinagsasabi ni Boss. Close talaga kami, para ko na rin siyang Tatay. At ‘cool’ si Boss, lagi yang supportive sa lovelife ko.
