CHAPTER 11.
The rest of the workday passed quickly, still raging with anger at Everett’s smartass attitude. I ended up leaving with Nat, giving Everett a taste of his own medicine and leaving him by himself. Sucker! I finally got to see Nat’s house, which was more like an apartment. It was small and cosy, with one bedroom, but somehow it reflected his personality well. His whole house has a black and white modern theme, with items scattered around that let you know it was Nat’s home.
"Make yourself at home." Nat chuckles sarcastically at me lounging on his couch like I own the place.
"Mission accomplished." I laugh, kicking my legs off the couch to make room for him. He flops down next to me, instinctively slinging his arm over my shoulders and pulling me into his chest. I breathe in his scent, the now familiar smell of spearmint making me relax instantly.
"What happened today with Everett?" He asks me casually, relaxing his arm so I can sit up.
"What makes you think something happened?" I say protectively, my tone screaming ‘liar, liar, pants on fire.’
"Obviously something happened. You wouldn’t be keeping secrets from me would you?" Nat pouts at me, removing his arm from around my shoulders to point a finger at his stuck out lip.
"Nothing really happened." I say lamely, causing him to stare at me.
"Tell me!" He cries. "I want to know everything! How can this relationship continue on when you are always sneaking around in the boss’s office?" He looks at me in mock hurt.
"I’m not sneaking!" I snap, folding my arms across my chest hastily.
"Well if you’re not going to tell me!" He snaps back, turning his head away from me. Good one Callie!
"Sorry." I mumble, placing a hand on his arm.
"You don’t have to tell me." He grumbles, looking back at me.
"He was just being his typical self." I tell him anyway.
"A prick?" Nat guesses, causing me to burst out in laughter.
"I’m not the only one who thinks so." I say, receiving a smile from Nat.
"Does anyone think different?" He asks me, showing me his dimples with a smile.
"They would be lying if they did." I told him, standing up and walking around his living room.
"Is he still flirting with you?" Nat asks suddenly, causing me to stare at him.
"When was he flirting with me?"
"It’s obvious babe!" Nat tells me, standing up in front of me. "And you obviously like him."
"What?!" I gasp, adding more drama than necessary.
"I’m just telling you what I’ve observed." He says, holding his hands up.
"I don’t like him! End of!" I snap, turning my back to him, the stubborn child I am.
"Don’t get mad at me." He says softly, grabbing my hands and holding them behind my back.
"How can I be mad at you?" I say, the anger in my voice dissolving slowly.
"You can’t stay mad at the annoying cute gay guy!" He says sweetly in my ear, resting his chin on my shoulder like Everett had done earlier today. Why do I remember this?
"I can if he is my annoying cute boyfriend." I tease, twisting myself in his hold so I am standing facing his chest.
"I think we should break up." He says to me.
