CHAPTER 12

I walked the streets for what seemed like hours, finally stopping to sit on a small bench in some old abandoned park. Good one Callie, now you’re lost! I hug my arms around myself and shiver, the cold of the night creeping up on me.

“Fuck you cold weather!” I hiss at nothing, feeling like a complete and utter lunatic.

“I don’t think it’s going to listen.” I turn my head and come face to face with Tanner. When the hell did he get here?

“Tanner.” I say, surprised by seeing him.

“Hey.” He replies smoothly, sitting down next to me on the bench. “What’s up?”

“The sky.” I say with a laugh.

“You should be a comedian!”

“I know right.” I joke, feeling slightly more comfortable around him.

“You look upset.” He places a hand on my knee.

“More pissed off than anything.” I tell him, staring at the dark green grass under my feet.

“Everett?” He guesses.

“How’d you know?”

“Usually when people are ‘pissed off’ Everett is the cause.” He tells me with a smile.

“He kissed me.” I admit, deciding to tell him.

“Was he that bad?”

“No.” I laugh, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. “He kissed me then immediately started flirting with Addison.” I say her name with venom.

“Addison?” He asks in disbelief, raising his eyebrows. Shit! He likes her! I should really learn to hold my tongue.

“Um, yes.” I mumble quietly, feeling bad for Tanner having to hear this from me.

“You should get him back.” He says, his tone slightly grumpy.

“How?” I ask, intrigued by this idea.

“Do what he did to you.”

“Flirt with Addison?” Confused much.

“No, sleep with me.” He says, causing me to laugh loudly.

“What?” I snort, feeling him squeeze my knee.

“I said, sleep with me.”

“Why would I do that?” I ask him in confusion.

“To get him back of course.” He offers me a smile.

“Do you just want to get in my pants?” I squint at him.

“No! I mean yes, I mean.” He pauses and sighs loudly. “I’ve seen the way Everett looks at you and talks about you, he obviously cares.”

“I don’t think so, he’s a pig!”

“That’s why you should sleep with me.” He says, moving his body so his knees knock into mine.

“Would he get angry?” I ask, looking up at him.

“There’s only one way to find out.” He says, urging me on with his eyes.

“My house?” I ask, raising my eyebrows at him.

“Wont Everett be there?” He asks me.

“Wont that be better?” I say, smirking at him. He didn’t answer me, just grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the park. I blame the wine! I followed him into his car and let him drive me to home. Revenge is sweet! He pulls up outside the house, jumping out of the car and walking around to my side. I let him open the door for me and take his waiting hand, leading him into the house. Making sure to be silent as we walk into my bedroom. I stand awkwardly in front of him, not knowing what to do or what to say.
