The cage door swung open when you pushed it to the side and you didn't catch the word, 'DANGER', on the door before it swung past you. You only got signs of aggression when you stepped into the cage, hearing a menacing growl rip from the throat of the hybrid before you. You stopped dead in your tracks, taking in the man who you now noticed was chained to the wall with a muzzle strapped around his head. His face was sharp, but you could tell that if he was fed regularly, with good food, he'd have a rather nice build. Grey ears were laid back flat on his head as he snarled at you, twitching at each minuscule movement that you made. You lowered yourself onto the ground, trying to ignore the way that the hybrid thrashed around, straining his chains to get to you and attack you. You tossed the keys behind you, nodding when the Taeyong hovered his hands over them, asking for permission to start letting others out.

The growl coming from the hybrid didn't lower in intensity, but you were able to talk somewhat loudly over it and be heard.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I promise. The people who brought you were and kept you in here were awful people, but I'm freeing you. You don't have to come with me if you don't want to, but I really want to get you out of here, you deserve better. If you let me get close, I can unchain you, and I'll take the muzzle off too. Please just let me help you."

The growl never ceased, only lowering in volume so that you were talking at a normal volume by the end. You reached a hand out, almost able to touch his hand that was also reaching out for you, claws extended, ready to attack.

"You won't help. You'll just hurt me more. I'm done believing human's lies."

He finally spoke, resuming growling after he was finished. You shook your head, meeting his eyes with a soft comforting gaze.

"I promise. And if I try to hurt you, hurt me back. You have my full permission. But please let me unchain you and take your muzzle off, I can heal whatever wounds need healing. But I need to get close and I have to touch you to do that. I don't have any weapons on me, and like I said, if I hurt you, hurt me back."

"Why would you want to help me? I'm worthless, I'm a hybrid. Why would you want to help me?" He repeated, claws slowly sinking back into his hands as he eyed you warily.

"No you're not. What's your name?"

"Why do you care?" He growled out, eyes narrowing once again.

"I want to get to know you. I don't think you're worthless, I think that people misunderstand hybrids and treat them like garbage when they're the real trash. I'm Y/N, what's your name?"

"...Xiumin."

You nodded, "Can I come over and unchain you, take your muzzle off? I won't touch you more than necessary."

"Fine. But one wrong move, and I'll rip your heart out and shove it down your throat." You nodded, knowing full well that he was mostly bark and no bite. Most hybrids were, anyways.

You walked towards him slowly, hands open to show him that you really didn't have anything on you. His eyes followed you the entire way, and you felt him tense when you picked up the end of the chain. You undid the mechanism on the back, attaching them to the wall. He was able to move freely now, and you just had to unlock the cuffs from his wrists. While he was still sitting, you slid your hands behind his head, unlocking the muzzle and taking the metal cage off of his face. The marks of the muzzle straps were lined with dried blood, clearly having been too tight. You reached through the bars of the cage, retrieving the keyring from Taeyong. You slid the key into the cuff around Xuimin's wrists, unlocking each one and cringing at the cuts from the metal digging into his skin.

You took his hand softly, looking at him for his approval before leading him out of the cage, and sitting him against the wall.

"Just sit here while we wait for my coworker to get here, they're bringing the van that has all of the first-aid materials. If you need anything, just let me know." You received a soft nod in return and began making your way down the rest of the row of hybrids. Each thanked you many times, grateful to be saved and taken away from the tiny cages that they had been trapped in.

Once each and every one of the hybrids was out of their cages, you called the shelter, asking for someone to bring the van around, and to bring escort transportation vans for all of the hybrids.

"Okay, my coworker is on their way, with the vans and first-aid materials. I'm gonna have you all wait here until they get here, and I'm gonna go make sure everything is okay outside."

You received a few nods from the hybrids closest to you, pushing the door open and slipping through back into the lobby. Taehyung smelled you immediately, turning to face you with a smile. You held your arms out, smiling as he hopped the counter and nearly tackled you in a hug. You knew that he could probably smell other hybrids on you and you felt him rubbing his cheek along your shoulder, masking you in his scent. You pulled him down to sit on a chair, lowering yourself into his lap after he was sitting. He immediately engulfed you, sniffling a little as he thought about the events of the day.

"Y/N?"

"Yes Taehyung?"

"Where did you go today?"

You sighed, knowing that you sort of had to tell him now.

"Yoongi, Seokjin and I all got a letter that we weren't allowed to keep hybrids in our homes. So we were looking at better houses, ones that are hybrid friendly." You decided to keep the togetherness aspect of the plan a surprise, only revealing a little bit of the truth.

"I'm sorry..."

"Don't be silly, it's not your fault, you can't help it. But I'm glad that you're safe, don't ever leave the house again without me, okay?"

"Okay," He sniffled, leaning his head on your shoulder and taking in your presence, he'd never leave the house again unless you were with him.
