Chapter 23: Changing Tides

"Magnus can you hear me, wake up. Please, just wake up." Alec called out to him.
"Magnus where is Dayanara? Do you know where she is?" Jace pleaded with the unconscious warlock.
Alec looked up at his parabatai. "Jace get Catarina here right now."
Jace just looked at Alec for a moment. "What about Alyssa and Dayanara? All of us swore we wouldn't tell anyone about them in order to protect them." Jace questioned.
"This is getting bigger now more then any of us ever thought. Besides Magnus trust her and so do I." Alec confessed.
Jace wanted to say something else, but he held his tongue instead. After helping Alec get Magnus into bed, he sent an urgent message to Catarina.
It wasn't long before a portal appeared and Catarina walked out. Alec and Jace stopped her for a moment.
"Thank you for coming Catarina, I appreciate it a lot." Alec offered
"You said there was something wrong with Magnus of course I'm going to come help. He'd do the same thing for me." Catarina explained.
"About that before we take you to Magnus there are a few things we have to tell you. You have to swear on Magnus's life that what we are about to tell you you won't tell a soul about it." Jace warned.
"If you're saying that it would endanger Magnus of course I'll keep quiet." Catarina replied.
Jace started in on everything that had happened over the last few months, with him and Dayanara and who and what she was. As well as Alyssa's birth as if on cue Alyssa's cries echoed through the room. Causing Jace to stop with his explanations to go check on his daughter.
In his absence, Alec caught her up with everything that had happened so far.

A flustered Jace then came back to the living room with a fussy baby Alyssa.
"Alec do you think you can help, Magnus and Nara are so much better at this then me." Jace confessed to his parabatai.
Alec smiled as he took Alyssa from Jace. Right away the eleven month old went for the thick leather band on Alec's right wrist.
"It looks like she's cutting another tooth."
Carrying Alyssa into the kitchen Alec came back out with Alyssa vigorously bitting down on a frozen teeter.
"Magnus keeps a few of these in the freezer for her." Alec explained.
"You could have just said that." Jace responded.
"Not to break up your little moment. But I thought I was here to see Magnus. As for their safety, I will cast a blocking spell if I have to keep anyone from seeing my memories. Now take me to Magnus." Catarina said firmly.
After sitting Alyssa in her play pen to play. Jace followed Alec and Catarina to Magnus's room.
Alec then started to explain why he and Jace called her there.
"He's been back several hours but I can't seem to rouse him. Then we found these bruises on his arms, and one or two here in the side of his neck. Since the bruising is there that tells me his healing abilities aren't active. But we couldn't find any cuffs or any object on him that would be dampening his magick."
After he had finished Alec realized that there was medical equipment in the room that hadn't been earlier.
"When did you?" Alec started to question, when Catarina answered him.
"I'm a warlock Alec, do you really have to ask?" Catarina asked in return.
After hooking the machines up to Magnus. Catarina started to study the bruises on Magnus's arms and the one on his neck.
"The bruises on his left arm is what you would find after drawing someone's blood or if you had an IV in place. Same thing can be said about the bruises on his right arm. The mark on his neck looks like an injection site. I'll drawl some blood and run some test."
Alec gently pulled up Magnus's shirt to expose his abdomen. "What do you make of these?"
Catarina moved closer to examine the spots on Magnus's abdomen.
"Again they look like injection shots. I'd like to do a complete physical and see just what is going on and what was done to him."
Catarina had a needle inserted into Magnus's arm and had filled a test tube with blood, before Alec could say anything.
"Ok,give me sometime to examine this and we will see what we are dealing with."

Jace continued to pace and look at spot that he and Alec had found Magnus.
"Where are you Nara, why did they return Magnus and not you?" Jace said out loud to himself.
Alec was asleep in a chair next to Magnus's bedside.
"I've got it Alec!" Came Catarina's excited voice. Alec jumped slightly as he sat up in the chair, at the sound of the female warlocks voice.
"Sorry Alec, I didn't mean to startle you like that. But I figured out some of the things Magnus was injected with. He can't excess his healing abilities because of some kind of binding serum, it has magically properties that are used on items that would be used to bind our magick, only this is in liquid form. There was also high levels testosterone and some other magical herbs that I wouldn't have thought to mix." Catarina explained.

"What are these herbs used for? Alec questioned.
"In small amounts these herbs by themselves are what we would use, in our tonics and potions.There are trace amounts of herbs used to help with relaxing, sleep, lust increasing fertility and physical binding." Catarina explained to Alec and Jace.
"Physical binding?" Alec questioned. He then had a thought as he looked at Jace.
"Jace, show Catarina the mark on your wrist."
Jace frowned at his parabatai, but he did as Alec asked.
Removing his jacket, he showed Catarina the purple-black tattoo like mark on his left wrist.
Catarina looked at the mark in disbelief. It looked a normal tattoo of the tree of life, there were marks similar to some of the angel runes that Catarina recognized. love, creation, protection and to bind. Catarina then made eye contact with Jace.
"Have you experienced any changes."
"What kind of changes?" Jace couldn't help but ask.
"Any increase of your angel abilities or warlock magic appearing?" Catarina replied.
"No, I haven't. There are times now that we have gotten closer, that I can feel different things from her. Almost like her emotions are mine." Jace explained.
Alec then looked at Catarina.
"Do you think you could heal Magnus now maybe, it will wake him up?"
"I can try, but if he and Dayanara are connected somehow. He may not wake up until  Dayanara does."
Catarina then started to weave her magick around Magnus. There was a crackle of resistance at first, before the bruises on his body started to fade.
The crackling got louder as a wave if energy washed through the whole apartment. Magnus sat up suddenly in his bed.
"We have to get to Dayanara!" The High Warlock shouted out loud as he came to.
Surprising everyone in the room.
Alec tried to calm down his lover as he started to climb out of bed.
"Hey, take it easy don't worry we'll find Dayanara. Just relax, for a little while." Alec said softly.
Magnus froze for a moment and just looked at Alec.
"I have been relaxed, more so then I care. I was drugged and enthralled by magick I haven't felt before. Where I was doesn't exist in our time. It's from our future. Warlocks, Werewolves, Fairyfolk, Shadowhunters, Vampires and Nephilocks. All living together in a hidden city."
"What are Nephilocks?" Jace couldn't help but ask.
"The offspring of a Nephilim and a Warlock, it's what Dayanara is. I didn't notice many. They all seemed to be from certain Warlock bloodlines." Magnus explained.
He then suddenly, grabbed the sides of his head as a sharp pain erupted inside his skull.
"Magnus are you okay, what can I do?" Alec asked in concern.
"Is there anything else about the city you saw that you can tell us? Jace gently pressed.
"City, what city, Jace." Magnus asked.
Jace and Alec looked at one another as Catarina spoke.
"It looks like bits of his memory of where he was are being erased the longer he is back in his own time."
"Kane, said that, that would happen." At the look on Alec and Jace's faces. Magnus continued.
"He was a Warlock I met inside the rift. He is one of the silver cloaked figures."
Magnus's thoughts then turned to himself and Dayanara.
"I think they where trying to fix my infertility. I believe that they might have done it."
When I found Dayanara two women were carrying twin babies out of the room she was in. I didn't get to see where they took them. But I felt drawn to them, I wanted to protect them. When I turned back to the room there was another silver cloaked warlock healing her. They then started poking her with different needles. I remember going out a door looking for a way to escape. I met Kane he touched my forehead then there was this silver light and then nothing. Not until I woke up a few minutes ago.
Magnus then locked eyes with Jace.
"Jace, we need to go to your apartment now!"
