*Devyn*
"Yes Mom, I know 'don't walk around by myself at night, don't do drugs, and manage my time wisely.'" I said with an annoyed tone to my mom on the way to the airport.
She had been lecturing me the entire car ride and I just wanted to let her know I will be ok. However, the car ride got really awkward after that.
I stared out the window not wanting to face my mom while Ariana Grande's song 7 rings played on the radio. I faintly heard my mom start to sing the lyrics and I couldn't help but laugh.
"What's wrong am I embarrassing you," she said jokingly. Obviously trying to make the situation less awkward.
"A little," I replied with a smirk on my face.
As much as I hated it when my mom would sing or dance in public, I knew I would miss these moments.
We pulled up in the airport and my mom started to choke up. "You have everything," she asked.
"Yes mom, and anything I don't have I can just by at the store," I replied with a soft smile.
"Ok, just make sure you call me as soon as you land," my Mom had always been afraid of flying and I could tell she had second hand anxiety.
"Will do."
"I love you, Devyn," and as soon as those words left my Mom's mouth. I began to cry and hugged her. Realizing I wouldn't see her until thanksgiving.
"I Love you, too."
I realized we were probably holding up the line of cars behind us and I opened my car door and hopped out. My mom and I grabbed my suitcases from the trunk as well as my backpack for the plane ride.
"Alright, you have your ticket," my mom asked just so she could talk to me for a little longer.
"Yes, it's on my phone," I told her.
"Ok, smart ass," she joked as she walked back to her car.
"I love you," she called out from the car. I waved back to her trying not to cry and walked into the airport.
I went over to check my bags in and the lady working there tried to make small talk.
"So, why are you heading to New York," she asked me and I was trying my best to hide my excitement.
"I'm going to NYU for theatre," I replied sounding way more excited then I had tried to.
"Well, I hope you have a safe flight." She said awkwardly ending the conversation.
I walked over to security standing behind the hottest guy I had ever seen. He had brown curly hair that he pushed back with his hand as I walked in line.
I didn't know if I should talk to him or not, so I went on my phone hoping he would talk to me first.
When we got to the point in line where they made sure our tickets and  ID match, He went first. I overheard the security guard say "Timothée Chalamet." I figured I could use this to make small talk in the next part of the line.
"Next," I heard the security guard say. I walked over trying to stay calm and saw that Timothée seemed to be listening to our conversation as well.
"Devyn Adams," the security guard asked.
  "Yes," I replied.
He stared at my ticket for a little and said in the most depressing voice ever, "Have fun in New York."
I couldn't help but chuckle a little and stood behind Timothée in the next part of the line.
"Hey, Devyn Adams," he said mimicking the security guard.
I laughed a little more then I should have and said, "Timothée Chalamet," with a much more depressed tone then he did.
"You did a much better impression than me," he said laughing.
"Yeah, I guess."
"So, why are you going to New York," he asked very curiously.
"I am studying at NYU for theatre," I answered way to excited that it was almost embarrassing.
"Seriously, I actually grew up in the city and I  am staying their for a couple of months. Maybe we'll be on the same flight."
"One could only hope," I giggled.
We went through security and met on the other side grabbing our stuff.
"So, what flight are you on," I asked hoping it wasn't to invasive.
"A 2 pm flight to JFK," he said very nonchalant.
"So, am I," I replied way to excitedly.
"Sweet, see you there." He said and walked off.
