A few days earlier...

I could imagine myself behind the wheels, revving up my pearly white Myvi, travelling along the North-South Highway. While driving at 120 kilometre per hour, the cold, humid wind slapped across my face. I inhaled the fresh air, letting it travel through my airways and freshening up my internal organs. Mountains as tall as skyscrapers towered above me, threatening to come crashing down if arrogance were to manifest in my heart. I could even hear the booming voice of the mountains. 'Who do you think you are, are you as tall and mighty as me?"

Out of nowhere, a piece of land, barren land appeared in the midst of a lush, green scenery. The colour of sand decorated the scenery, with a neat row of palm trees surrounding the patch of land. Ahhhhh, such a relaxing..."

"Anddd, there goes Farra again, into her daydream..." Imam Amir sings softly.

Ohhhh no no no no.

"Eheheheheheh ehem sorry Imam, I was just ehmm..."

"Haha relax Farra, I know you are fasting and all. I am pretty sure you were daydreaming about food huh?" Imam Amir pointed his finger towards Farra in an accusing manner.

"Owh no Imam I didn't. I was thinking about something else."

Imam Amir smiled widely, showing his perfect row of teeth. His dark complexion shone under the sunlight spilling through the masjid's window. His jovial and supportive personality was the reason why I was comfortable with him teaching me, one-to-one, with Falisa of course. The Imam of Masjid An-Naas was wearing a light green kurta and a white hat today.

"It's alright girls, we should end our class today. If I were to drone on, you girls will start snoring in no time. Go home and rest well okay," Imam Amir beamed while packing his dark blue backpack.

"Imam."

"Yes Falisa?"

"We need a favour to ask from you."

Imam arched his eyebrows.

"Farra needs a place to stay. She had been staying in my house for a short period of time. She is in danger, Imam. You are doing us many favours, Imam. And this is the biggest favour we could ask for. She needs a hideout, for a very short while. After Farra and I sort out what is going on, she would move out. Is that okay, Imam?"

Imam Amir thought lomg and hard before turning back to them. "Girls, will you give me a minute. I am going to discuss this with my wife okay?" Imam Amir left the room while dialling his wife's number.

Farra nudged Falisa. "Farra since when was Imam married lah? Haihhh, I could feel the pain, right in here," sounded Falisa while pointing to her heart.

"Hmmm better luck next time Falisa."

"Haihhhhhhh."

"Please darling, say Astaghfirullah. You are trying to tackle an Imam in between the walls of masjid you know."

Falisa's eyes widened and she slapped her forehead. "Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah."

Falisa turned to Farra with a smirk on her face.

"But you still know that Islam allows four wives for a man right?"

Farra, who was drinking water from her purple bottle, nearly spat the water out and shook her head.

"I thought you were innocent Falisa," chided Farra while slapping her friend on her arm.

"That's what you think, eh?"

Imam Amir walked back into the room with an excited smile.

"Farra, you can go ahead and stay at my house for as long as you want okay. My wife is excited to have you around. You can move in tomorrow itself. I will share my location to you via Whatsapp once I reach home yeah. It's quite a drive from here, so make sure you call before coming over."

"Imam, are you serious?"

"Do you think I'm joking?"

"No no I mean, I didn't expect you to allow me to stay at your house. I was already thinking of who else to ask help from of you were to say 'no' but you said 'yes' very fast..."

"Farra."

Farra looked into the eyes of Imam Amir.

"Do you remember the story of the Hijrah of the Muslims I taught you a few days ago?"

"Yes Imam."

"What were the Muslims who immigrated from Mecca to Madinah called?"

"The Muhajiriin."

"How about the Muslims who welcomed them?"

"The Ansaars."

"And how did the Ansaars welcomed the Muhajiriin?"

"They welcomed the Muhajiriin like their own brothers, they shared their lands, assets and even homes. You have migrated in the cause of Allah, dear. As your Muslim brother, it is my responsibility to take care of your affairs. "

Farra's eyes widened.

"Is this really what Islam teaches?"

"Again, do you think I'm joking?"

"No no, I mean, the people out there make it sound like Islam is a rigid and cruel religion. I did not know how beautiful Islam can be..."

"I know. That is because of Muslims themselves, who forget that Islam is beyond a set of rules and regulations. When they ignore the nuances and the subtle yet beautiful teachings of Islam, they become barbaric and inhumane. Eventually, they paint the picture that Islam brings about terrorism, and even deter Non-Muslims from wanting to know about Islam."

"That is very true, Imam."

"Alright girls, that's all for today. I am going to go back and sleep like there is no tomorrow. I will see you girls soon."

Imam hurried off before being stopped by Farra.

"Imam."

Imam Amir turned around to face Farra with furrowed eyebrows.

"Thank you, for teaching me how beautiful Islam is."

Imam smiled.

"Thank Allah, for allowing me to teach you about His religion. Owh, Farra beware okay."

"Beware of?"

"Beware of my brother in-law who also stays in my house. There is a good chance you might fall for him. He is very good looking you know," he said before winking.

Farra rolled her eyes while Falisa covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud.

"Assalamualaikum," he beamed before walking off.

"Waalaikumussalam," the girls uttered in unison before packing their own bags to leave.

P.s. Salam readerssssss. Okay, I apologise for a being as slow as a snail in updating the story. So yeah, come come I ask you a question. If you were to be Imam Amir, would you allow Farra to stay in your house, without even bothering to know what is the 'danger' impending upon her? Drop it in the comment section and don't forget to give a vote peepos. Love 💗💗💗
