The clock struck just after two in the afternoon. The girls had finished arriving to the school just little over ten minutes ago and yet one Freya Evergreen was late, as usual through Miss Hardbroom as she stood outside the school building watching the new first years as well as the older students talking amongst themselves with there friends. Just as she thought about giving the girl detention if she didn’t arrive within the next five minutes a figure could be seen flying near the school. The older teacher couldn’t help but be impressed by the persons flying skills. The perfect posture and the control over the broom.

So it was no wonder that shock washed over the deputy and headmistress when they were greeted by the young Evergreen witch “Well met Miss Cackle, Miss Hardbroom” the girl greeted in a very professional manner. Miss Hardbroom took in the girl and noticed how different her aura felt. It wasn’t as carefree and happy then last year or the years before but she just couldn’t figure out what it was she was feeling. But it was the girls appearance. Although she wasn’t wearing her school uniform she was dressed in tradition dark green dress robes with a matching hat with her hair in a low bun slightly to the side. She stood straighter instead of her normal slouching position. Her broom held nicely in one had as her belongings were kept in a vintage type suitcase in the other that swung around her knees. It was like looking at a different person and Miss Hardbroom wanted to get to the bottom of what was going on with the girl, even though she was happy to see that the girl was starting to follow along with witching traditions it was strange seeing her like that.

After all she was from a non witching family. Her attitude although annoying was fresh to the school even if she didn’t follow the witches code “Well met Freya. I see your flying has improved” the headmistress commented which made Hecate watch their interaction “Thank you Miss Cackle. I’ve been practicing” she said with a small smile although Hecate felt the smile was almost forced but let it slide “Miss Cackle, would it be ok if we could speak in private?” the young witch asked. The smile was gone and it was strange for Hecate as the girl was always smiling “of course my dear, come along then. We can talk before I introduce the first years” she said making her way into the building.

Hecate soon led the first your witch’s into the school to receive there uniform and timetable. Classes wouldn’t start until tomorrow. The first years whispered amongst themselves whilst probably making there new friends. As the girls settled into there new dorms Hecate began to make her way to the headmistress’ office. Upon arriving she saw Miss Evergreen leaving Miss Cackles office. The young girl didn’t see the teacher making her way to the door. The girl looked up and stopped in her tracks when she saw her teacher “Miss Hardbroom I’m sorry I didn’t see you there” it was hard not to lash out or make some snarky comment as the deputy could her the emotions coming from the girls voice. You could tell she’s been upset and Hecate knew if she said the wrong thing it would probably make things worse “your uniform and timetable have been placed in you room. I expect you make it on time for supper Miss Evergreen” the older witch  came up with “Thank you Miss Hardbroom” the witch said “is there anything else?” she asked. Hecate thought for a minute but all she could think about was how well Freya looked in her clothing. The teacher scolded herself for having such thoughts about her student “no you may go now” she said. Freya slightly bowed her head something Hecate found strange but soon learned it was a sign of respect from the girls cultural upbringing in the non magical world. Freya made her way past the teacher “Miss Evergreen” the girl quickly turned to her form tea her “yes Miss Hardbroom?” she questioned “you look like a proper witch in those robes" she paused “they suit you” she said before walking into Miss Cackle office leaving Freya in the corridor shocked but soon a smile appeared on her lips.

Hecate on the other hand was horrified. So couldn’t believe she said such a thing to her student. Her stricken demeanour slipped and she was always careful “ah Hecate should we go to the dinning hall for supper?” asked Miss Cackle. Hecate straightened he posture “yes. What did Freya Evergreen want to speak about?” she asked but saw the frown on the headmistress's face “all in good time Hecate” she said placing a hand on her shoulder as she walked past her.

She was surprised to see the young witch already sitting at a table with her friends. Although she wasn’t as joyous or talkative as she normally was. Yes she spoke but only when she had to. The teacher again thought about finding out what is going on either her student. A person can’t change that much for no reason in such a short time. A couple of minutes later once all the students arrive Miss Cackle stood from her seat and quickened the students down before giving the start of term speech. I always enjoyed it. As she finished talked I began to call as well as the students. Dinner was served and again the chatter started. Of course amongst the older students there was talk about Freya entrance and they began to come up with theories such as she knew how to all along or she must be cheating somehow. Scare couldn’t help but roll her eyes at these silly accusations. Cleary the girl as taken it upon herself to actually start learning something. How she’s managed to make it this far she didn’t knew. He grades were terrible and she doesn’t follow the rules so it was a wonder how she’s still in the school.

Half an hour later Hecate looked over in there direction to see the once occupied seat was empty and that her plate had already been cleared away. It wasn’t long until she too and the rest of the student and staff were finishing up there meal “I believe an early night is in hand” Miss Cackle commented “yes I agree. It’s been a long day and we don’t want anyone to be tired on there first day of class” Hecate said to the other witch. She stood from her seat and got ready to transfer to her room in the teachers quarters. Upon appearing in her room Hecate took a seat at her desk as she began to run her temples. The first day was always stressful.
