Chapter 6

The past few days were okay. I think. I got nice scores on my quizzes, Kuya went home and I had a new friend.

I told Carlynn and Chantalle that I'll introduce my new friend -- Vernon, to them. But it looks like Carlynn's not in the mood earlier. Ang weird lang kasi we're okay naman kanina tapos nang mag uwian bigla na lang siyang wala sa mood saka nagyaya ng umuwi.

We're here right now at DQ, eating ice cream with Vernon. Kanina nung natanggap ko yung text ni Vernon I told Mang Thomas that I'll meet a friend kaya hindi muna ako uuwi. Then after that I looked for Vernon tapos sakto naman na nakita ko siya hindi kalayuan sa kung saan naka-park yung SUV namin.

I saw him leaning on the shotgun's door while typing something on his phone. His brush up hairstyle and maroon uniform, making girls look at him. May nakita pa akong isang teacher na nagpa-cute sa kanya. Oh my God, pati ba naman teacher.

I suddenly felt something on me. A feeling that I can't identify. Basta ang sure ko lang hindi maganda yung feeling na yun.

I shook my head in disbelief. There's a group of girls too who giggled as they look at him. But he didn't even took a glance doon sa mga babaeng pinagtitinginan at kinikilig sa kanya. It's as if he doesnt care to them basta nakatingin lang siya sa phone niya.

I'm just looking at him not far from him, iyong phone ko naman na hawak ko biglang tumunog.

Vernon calling...

At dahil nakatayo lang ako hindi kalayuan sa kanya, napalingon siya sa side kung nasaan ako. My jet black eyes met his dark brown eyes. He smirked, waving his hand.

My heart began to quicken its pace.

I didn't notice na nasa harap ko na pala siya. I pursed my lips.

My heart's beating so loud. Hindi ko na alam kung anong nangyayari sakin. Gustuhin ko mang maglakad hindi ko magawa. It felt like I'm stuck in here.

"Don't stare like that, baka matunaw ako." He said, plastered a playful smile.

"M-May dumi kasi sa mukha mo. T-Tara na nga." sabi ko bago mabilis na naglakad papunta sa kotse niya.

He just chuckled. Kainis. Bakit ba kasi ako napatitig sa kanya. Pangalawang beses na yun a...

After few seconds he followed me, sumakay siya sa may driver's seat. Habang ako naman pinapakalma ko parin yung sarili ko.

He cocked his head and motioned for me to get in. "Come on. Well be back before 10."

I got in the passenger seat. Akala ko aalis na kami agad, but he patiently waited for me to finish putting my seat belt on.

We were already on the main road when he asked me.

"Where do you wanna eat?" He asked.

"Kahit saan. Ikaw bahala, basta libre ko, ha." sabi ko. Pano ba naman kasi last time nung kumain kami sa Town Center ako dapat ang manlilibre but he insisted na siya na daw bahala kaya ayun.

In the middle of the drive, Vernon was just silent. But I know he's not bad mood. 'Cause every time I look at him he's biting his lower lip as if stopping himself to smile. Bakit ganun, feeling ko yung about sa parking lot kanina yung iniisip niya.

"Open ko yung radio, ha?" I said, so I could stop myself from overthinking. He just nodded.
