Chapter 11 - One On One

It was now Friday and seeing as we only had a week left with Colby I decided it'd be good to have some one on one time with him.

I got dressed before heading downstairs, seeing Colby in the same outfit he was wearing when we meet. I smiled lightly as he talked with Caleb, who had a overly wide smile on, sitting on the stools by the kitchen island. I walked into the front room, my dad sitting reading the newspaper and my mum watching TV next to him.

"I'm guessing Lila's at daycare?" I said as I sat down on the sofa next to the one they were on.

"Yep, and don't forget we have family dinner next weekend" Samatha answered not taking her eyes of the show she was watching.

"I was planning on going out in a bit" I explained.

"Okay, sweetie. Be careful though please" My dad explained, glancing my way with a small smile before going back to reading. I decided to stay there playing on my phone for another half hour before David stood up. "Right time to go, Caleb!" he shouted placing the newspaper down before heading out to the kitchen.

I heard a few shouts of complaints from Caleb as he plodded up stairs to get changed for football practice. I chuckled lightly as Cole walked into the room sitting down next to me on the sofa and straight away going on his phone.

"Caleb is high maintenance" I laughed at his comment.

"Yep" I agreed at the same time as my mum who was smirking over at us. "Breakfast you too?" she asked.

"Y--"

"No" I cut Colby off. "We're going out for coffee and breakfast" I explained, glancing at Colby who nodded with a smile creeping onto his face.

"Okay" my mum replied before walking out.

"I decided we should go out one on one because yourgoing soon" I explained.

"That's great, over this summer I feel like we've hardly had anytime just us two" he smiled, a piece of his brown hair falling onto his forehead. He'd look good with died hair, I thought as I looked down to his eyes.

"We can go now if you're ready" I suggested as Caleb walked out with with my dad.

"Sure, I'll just grab a few things then we can go" Colby nodded before standing up and heading back upstairs.

~Time Skip~

As we entered the shop a bell jingled from above our heads and the usual smooth music playing and the smell of rich coffee, steam and freshly baked goods hit me like a waterfall. I smiled subconsciously as the smell, the cafe looked old and rustic but of course cozy and warm with dark brown leather sofas and lighter wood planks as coffee tables to one side of the more modern counter, with all sorts of appliances on. Then bar chairs next to a ledge table in front of a window on the other side.

We ordered our drinks before walking over to a lightwood table sitting down across from each other.

"So.." I started, "How's LA?" I asked.

"It's been good, way hotter than here, also the parties are always fun. YouTube life has its ups and downs sometimes I just wanna go back to the vine days in Kansas" Colby answered.

"Oh my god, Vine! It feels like ages since then" I laughed as the waiter brought our drinks over and I smiled thanking them.

"I haven't really talked about how you adapted to England" Cole continued, taking a sip of his drink.

"Well, like your time with youtube, it's had its ups and downs. I found it hard to get into the culture, I guess of England, but once I did it was great. It was harder when Levi left for College" I replied taking a sip of my drink. "Picked up the accent okay though" I laughed and he did two.

"I know I hardly recognised your voice when I saw you again" Colby continued with a playful smile.

"How's Sam?" I asked curious about my other old friend.

"He's good, keeps texting me about you" The brunette answered casually.

"Tell him I'll visit him soon" Colby have me a slightly confused look. "Oh, I haven't told you!" I realised "Levi called a few days ago saying that I could come stay with him in LA for a bit"

A wider smile fell onto his face, "When?"

"A couple weeks after you leave" I replied.

"Great, that's amazing I can introduce you to the boys and you'd get along great with Katrina and Devyn" Colby explained.

There was few moments of silence, as we sipped our drinks and looked around, the atmosphere descending into an awkward aura.

"So... Are we going to talk about it?" Colby asked and my attention snapped back to him.

"No" I mumbled not wanting the topic to come up and enevatably ruin our time.

"Why?" he asked, sounding almost hurt.

He couldn't like me. Yes, he said all those things but he just found out what happened with Chase, he felt sorry for me I was sure if it. The kiss, although it meant the world to me, was just a best friend pretending out of pity.

"--Y/n?" Colby snapped me out of my daze. "We have to talk about it" He mumbled not looking me in the eye anymore but down at the swirling strands of his coffee.

"I don't know what to say" I sighed, giving in.

"That it wasn't in the heat of the moment" Colby suggested but I doubted everything in that moment.

"Maybe it was" I whispered, my voice betraying my heart as the words fell out of my mouth. God! It wasn't but I didn't want him to feel attached to me, it would just be better if we could go back to when we lived in Kansas. Just a couple kids, dressing up and doing silly vines or playing in the school band for the annual shows.

I sighed taking another gulp of my coffee as the brunette boy opposite me stayed silent.

Ping!

The sound of a phone went off and Colby was quick to check it.

"It's my agent.. I--"

"go it's fine" I cut his stuttering off and he stood walking out to the front of the coffee shop.

I watched through the hazzey window as he tapped away a reply before going on a call to someone, most probably Sam. I watched the mannerisms I recognised in him from when we were younger and smiled lightly, turning back to the table as our breakfast arrived.

A/N sorry for not posting in ages but it's the end of the school year and I've been really busy with studying and tests, and end of year homework as well as stressing about the fact I'm freaking growing up like wth it's gone so quickly and secondary is nearly over.

Anyway hopefully you liked this chapter and we are getting closer to where reader is going to LA so get ready for the rest of the crew to join.

Btw the time line is, Elton is going to leave soon and Jake will join the trap house. I'll try and follow the videos but I might mess up at points, and I'll talk more about that later.
